Cool piece! vivaldi! I almost forgot about him. He has some beautiful music too. What is this piece called? Is it called Winter from the "Four Seasons?" Is it FROM the "Four Seasons?" Anyways, nice piece you found:)

hahaha! Yeah it is a harpsichord:) This violinist looks pretty intense. Like the way he's playing is amazing!!!! Who do you like better? Beethoven. Mozart of Haydn? I've always been a beethoven girl myself:) I'm not doing much beethoven this year because my teacher wants me to expand my horizons a bit. Mozart has some nice pieces, like his d minor concerto. Haydn is the one I'm not too keen on though. However, I do like his variations in f minor. I think that's the only haydn piece I like!!! hahaha!

Me too! I prefer beethoven! His 9th symphony is so great! His sonata for violin and piano too!!Angela wrote:! Who do you like better? Beethoven. Mozart of Haydn? I've always been a beethoven girl myself!
His 5 piano concerto are awesome! They seem unknow like..!? And about Mozart: I like it, not as much as beeethoven,but still! Did u know he wrote 27 piano concerto?
Do you like Rachmaninov? His 4 Piano concerto are amazing! And his famous Prelude in C sharp minor his so cool!
Just tought about that! Did you know there was a guy who had some serious mental problems because of Rachmaninov's Piano conceto 3? It is know as the hardest ever made! This song was the obsession of the guy!+ his father wasn,t really ''cool'' with him so... anyway!

Ah you've heard Beethoven's 5th concerto. Yes it is beautiful. Quite difficult though. Another beethoven concerto that will ALWAYS be a favourite of mine is the c minor concerto. Have you heard that one? I think it is his concerto. no.2. Which sonata for violin and piano. OMG. I LOVE Beethoven's Kreutzer sonata. I only learned the 1st movement with my violinist at UVic when I was in my fourth year and it was difficult but just AMAZING!!!! Yay! You like Rachmaninov too! I love his 2nd concerto! His third concerto IS hard! and I did hear that story about someone going crazy learning it . Yikes. It is difficult but it's doable. it isn't totally impossible as long as someone spends a lot of time on it. Yes the prelude in c# minor is beautiful and intense. That was my first rachmaninov piece I ever played. Apparently, everyone loved it so much, that he got sick of it (oops!). So when he was going to perform it in a recital, he started it....... AND THEN BROKE INTO THE FANTASIE IMPROMPTU!!!!! I guess that's possible because the beings of both the fantasie and the prelude are very similar. I dunno. That's what I heard. I think it's funny. If you like Rachmaninov, his prelude in D major po.23 no.4 is a stunning piece. I LOVE that one! Yes I knew about mozart's 27 piano concerti. The guy was a machine. Out of curiousity what level are u in piano?

??? Thoughts
[quote="Angela"]
Yes, I tend to like the more "famous" pieces. & I don't know much about classical music, so I named Beethovens' & of the few pieces I've heard so far. But for Moonlight Sonata, I much prefer the first part over the other movements, is that bad?- maybe I don't know how to appreciate the other parts yet.
& the Toccata- don't know if you guys have seen this, but I like this classical pop version/ adaptation- some of the ppl. there are saying it's ruining a masterpiece, what do ya think>??
TheGirl wrote:Well I don't know a whole lot about classical music, but so far I really like-

Fur Elise
Canon
Hearing Canon was what got me start up piano again, well and Andrew, my youtube teacher- he can be inspiring
& one of my fav. songs, "Runaway" -The Corrs
I will def. learn this one one day

Moonlight sonata and Fur Elise seem to be popular pieces!!! Have you heard the whole moonlight sonata??? Oh and Canon? So you mean the Pachabel Canon in d major?? Here's another beethoven piece played by Wilhelm Kempff. It is BEAUTIFUL! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfjD-DQ5REk

Re: What are your favourite Piano compositions?
My favorite classical piano pieces (in random order) at the moment are;
Rachmaninoff Prelude Op. 23 No. 4
La Campanella
Chopin "Fantasie" Impromptu, Op. 66
Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata mvt. 1 And mvt. 3. (2 not so much)
Toccata & fugue in D, Although it's really a piece for organ.
Btw, Cripkilla, that song is indeed totally destroying a beautiful piece. Listen to Katsaris transcription and you'll know what I mean At 3:26 It's just........Then it ..........It's like..........At 3:26 there is a..... Aah, I just don't have the words to describe such beauty..

Re: What are your favourite Piano compositions?
Yeah , Sure, but first of all Rachmaninov's Etude Tableau (the vid of the girl above) IS an etude...
An étude (a French word meaning study), or study, is an instrumental musical composition, most commonly of considerable difficulty, usually designed to provide practice material for perfecting a particular technical skill.
-Wikipedia
So the goal of those songs are not to be the more beautiful as possible or whatever... even though many etude of the Romantic period are concert piece..
