How long do you practice piano for
Re: How long do you practice for?
Like Thomandy I usally play when I want to. Some days I don't even play for more than ten min and other days I play for hours. So I put no real pattern. I know that's bad practicing if you wanna be good, but yeah.......I'm lazy

Re: How long do you practice for?
Problem is I only have 49K keyboard with small keys.
My fingers are all over the place. so Really can't practice classical songs since most of them use the full 88 keys.

Quite a while? no, not to me I really love the piano that I get carried away and loose track of time.
Re: How long do you practice for?
Keep in mind that a pro musician has play'd 5000 to 10000 hours between the age of 4 and 16. That's alot, and also in the time of life we snap up information faster than later.
Anyway, if you practice those 10000 hours between the age of 20 and 30 you will be GOOD. That's 41 straight days of practicing. And that doesnt sound alot at all. But if you practice 1 hour a day it will take you 10 years to reach 3650 hours ^_^
I believe I've about 450-500 hours on the piano. And about 300 on the guitar. Within 2 years.... That's almost 1 hour everyday

Nice calculations!!
Hm... I got about, to be real; About 300-400 hours on the piano! My average have been less than 1hour a day this last year unfortunately! I get into these De-motivated periods where I maybe only play 1-2hours a week ... Damn, I got to practice more, reading those nrs you present I need to get up the hours!
Re: How long do you practice for?
Thanks Vic, your post made me do an Extra pianosession - 40min
Scales, chromatic scales, octaved jumps, and octaved scales, some thirds up and down the piano focus on relaxing and getting my thumbtuch better and faster all with Metronome - Before I ended with Noc Op9 No2
Yay

Personally, I guess you could say I have some serious fear issues. Fear that I will quit, and fear that I should have started piano at an earlier age. Just a lot of negative thoughts.
Sometimes I look over across the room and I see all those black and white keys over there. They look like teeth of a monster that is patiently waiting to gobble up the hours of my life. In a masochistic way, and as though I were Johnny Depp charging into the mouth of the Kraken, I would like nothing better than just for that to happen.
Actually, it is rather the world outside my door that seems like the monster and not the piano. I would rather stay inside my house being pleasurably hunched over the keyboard all day long. Kind of like that kid in the Charlie Brown cartoon. I have the time you know. I have every hour of the day to spend on piano lessons.
I want to be a person that checks the box that says I even play in my sleep. That is what I want.
But right now. I watch videos for six hours and play the piano for ten or fifteen minutes.
The SOLUTION to your fear of quitting is this:
Watch extremely good and moving performances ( mostly by famous pianists) sure got me motivated
Re: How long do you practice for?
I practice everyday of the week but I don't know for how long...there are days where I can be 1 hour at the piano with some pauses and other days where I can play only for 10 minutes. The only thing that I try to do is to "play everyday" just like Andy says in his videos.
