what brand piano do you have
Re: what brand piano do have
@pathetic_pianist,
You have got a fabulous piano! I just checked out the picture of your piano model on google. It is huge, and it has the pedals too. Wonderful.
BTW, I am a novice at learning piano. What's the difference between a piano and a keyboard?

Re: what brand piano do have
Hello Sridhar,
A digital piano will have sampled sounds of an actual grand piano, which sounds a little more realistic than synthesized sound of a keyboard. But the more important features of a digital piano according to me are presence of 88 weighted keys which are an absolute must when you decide to tread in deeper waters piano playing and also to improve your action. A keyboard usually has 61 keys and they are not weighted.
Anyways, I started with a keyboard just like you and graduated to piano only when I was definite that this hobby is here to stay :-)
And since you say you have just started learning, allow me the privilege to say, congrats and enjoy the amazing roller coaster experience that is to come :-)

I always tended towards the Yamaha until I played a Kawai. Love the sound, touch, response. Perfect in my opinion - as near to a Steinway as I can get.

I agree pianochris. I also have a kawai (baby grand) which has been and is a wonderful instrument, even though it is now 18 years old.

Roland aren't bad - I used to have a couple of synths when I was doing studio and session work. In regards to their synths, I think that had the best touch and attack (including the timbre of sounds).

I have a Casio PX-720. Someday I'd love to have a real honest-to-goodness piano, but for now this isn't a bad one for learning.

Re: what brand piano do have
I have a Yamaha DGX-620 but I am planning to buy an upright piano. I think I will buy a Boston (designed by Steinway) or a Schimmel. Yamaha pianos sounds too 'metalic', I prefer a more 'romantic' sound.

Re: what brand piano do have
Planning to get a Yamaha P85 or P95 digital piano, they are practicably the same, minimal differences. But I'm also still searching for a used acoustic piano. Prices are kind of high, but I rather take a little longer and buy an acoustic piano than running out to buy a digital piano just yet.
Re: what brand piano do have
I bought my daughter a Young Chang which she used for about 9 years. I have been using it and will continue on it until she moves out and takes it with her. When that happens, I'll probably look at a Yamaha.
