what brand piano do you have
Re: what brand piano do have
Kohler and Campbell..but it was a freebie so I can't complain..Whenever I can I'm going to trade it in for a Kawai..I played a yamaha grand piano at a concert last year and it was so beautifully mellow and responsive....

I have a 49K YAMAHA Porta Sound PSS-470
Its a small keyboard. Small keys, not even touch sensitive, but i like the sound compared to other cheap keyboards.
Planning to buy a YAMAHA P-series Digital but just havent got the money.

I have an M-Audio Keystation 49e USB MIDI keyboard connected to my computer and a FL-Keys software piano synthesizer. It's touch sensitive and is powered by the USB cable.
I couldn't ever fit a real piano in my tiny student apartment even if I could afford one

Kinda the same here, my parents would never let me put an acoustic piano in the living room(if they ever buy me one) and my room is too small. The only place I could put it is downstairs, but it's freaking cold down there

Re: what brand piano do have
I have a Casio CDP-100, I've bought for 350 € on ebay some days ago. In my opinion it's a good piano (it's the only one that I have tried so I guess my opinion doesn't count very much ) but I've found people complaining about the sound while saying the keys are fine for what it costs. Are you saying that the hammer touch is so-so after having compared it to a real piano or you just feel it so ? Because I also feel the keys are a little strange but probably it's because I've never played the piano and maybe it's also your case.Alex|Rag wrote:My digital piano is a Casio and I kinda regret it. The sounds is really good, but it's the hammer touch who is so-so.

NOW I'm more than happy, and I finally can reply to this poll. Today I went and bought a digital piano, the dream I've had forever and now finally I was able to get one.
My piano is Roland HP 203, and oh my, I love it!

Re: what brand piano do have
Btw those with space issues, an upright piano can have a pretty small "footprint" so it's not a good excuse.
I wish I had a cheap upright instead of a digital but not sure my neighbors would like it. It's soo much a different touch (and sound). My DP sounds OK I think, grand piano sound etc. you know the drill, but I prefer my teachers' upright and it's not any big brand but it just sort of feels "live". I never have the same feeling sitting at mine than at that one.
Just consider this if you're still not decided yet.

Re: what brand piano do have
My piano has Emil Auberon written on the front. It's a smallish upright. But it's a 20+ year old piano, I think.. N some keys are already a bit bad.. It was my 27 year old sister's birthday present(when she was 10 years old) by my mom, n it's a second hand also. So, it's old~~~ Can anyone tell me something about it?

Re: what brand piano do have
Just judging by the name it can be as old as 100 years. If it is then you might be in trouble (not so good action and after a while they lose tuning etc).
If it is just 20 years old then it's a modern piano and it should still work well and perhaps serve you for a lifetime. 20 years is young for a piano, it's been just barely warmed up no worries
Good pianos last decades if cared for properly.
It sounds like you need to call a piano technician to take a look at it, get it fixed etc. Real pianos need some love and care, this guy can tell you anything you need to know about it.

Re: what brand piano do have
Hi everyone,
I´m new in this great site and I´m starting piano by myself ( with Andrew´s videos, of course ) on a Yamaha CLP-340. I love music and I´d like to play my favourite songs on it someday

Re: what brand piano do have
If I could do it, the 340 is what I'd get right now. Well, I guess since I'm fantasizing right now, I'd upgrade to the 380 to get the wood keys (unnecessary expense, IMO, but we're fantasizing here) , but still, the 340 is a beautiful instrument.
I want one!

My god, if you're fantasizing, imagine a real piano, like a Steinway D or a Fazioli... Not an electric one!

Re: what brand piano do have
i would love a nice grand piano one day but for now... i have a yamaha motif xs6 (runs about 2000 US dollars) that comes with some amazing sampled sounds as my fav to play... to make up for the touch on the keys i invested in a really nice controller keyboard with extremely nice weighted keys.. since i generally work on funk and soul music so the electric keyboard with a built in midi sequencer is nice because i can put drums to my music easilly without having to record them live!

Re: what brand piano do have
I own a Casio digital piano. Model: CTK-496
I quite like it I don't know how it feels like to play other brand pianos as this is my first one.

Re: what brand piano do have
Casio CTK-496 is not really a digital piano, it is a keyboard :-) But if it has 88 weighted keys, it may be approximated as digital piano.
Anyways I have a yamaha clp320. The only problem with that is it takes a while to get used to certain settings like setting metronome speed and all, other wise the keys have a very nice and solid feel.
