Damper Pedal
On my old upright, the damper pedal seems to sustain louder if I press harder on the pedal. If I press softer it just makes like a very light echo sustain in the notes. Is this a technique?
Is this what half-damper is?

Re: Damper Pedal
I think your upright is broken.
I think you need to press the keys harder to make a louder sound, the sustain pedal only controls duration of vibration, not the volume. You can also "cut" notes with the sustain pedal, but thats all I ever got out of it.
Anyone feel free to correct me on that though.

Re: Damper Pedal
well yeah.. if you press the pedal further in your notes will be "freer" than if you only go half the way down
