9th 11th and 13th chords other chords
Well Since i have learned all major and minor, 7th, 6th chords. I started studying other less common chords. ^__^ Augmented chords took me a while to learn to use in a song. But now I started studying 9th, 11th, 9/6, and 13th chords. And Luckly I have the fingers for it. But the problem is it's kind of difficult to use them in a song because of their sound, (It has nothing to do with the reach of the chord, becuase I can play a 11th with one hand.) But it's just difficult to use it in song. Can anybody here help me on this.
Also I don't know what 6th chords are used for either. If anybody here wants info on augmented chords, I've posted a topic on these, here's a link: ^ ^ They and -5 chords are very useful for passing tones

In my experience you really only need to learn these:
Augmented, Diminished, Major, Minor, Seventh(there are several types of sevent chords).
13th and 9th chords stretch so long that the top notes become a part of the melody so its kinda unneccesary.
Do this for starters: Learn the scales and all the 7 chords in them, once you've learned that, try learning new ways to get "outside" of the scales by experimenting with the chords, so like instead of a g major in the c major scale, play a g minor and see what effect that gives, etc. experimenting helps alot. good luck
What im trying to make you understand here is that its not about CHORDS, its about SCALES.. Everything is relative and it depends on what scales you play in to get a special effect to your song... so instead of letters you should think of scale-chords in numbers, like this: the third chord in a major scale is always a minor and can be converted into a major thus giving a egyptian style sound...
