Just got a keyboard! Songs?
I got a keyboard about a month ago, I've been teaching myself through a Dummies book and Andrew's lessons. I can play some of those easy beginner songs like "This old man" and "twinkle twinkle" etc., i just learned how to play "Auld Lang Syne". But I am getting bored with little songs like that, i wasn't to start a new song that's like a full length song. Have any easy, first song type songs for me to try?
P.S. I will need help finding sheet music

Re: Just got a keyboard! Songs?
I was bored with the short songs too... my first bigger pieces that I found "easy" to play were Canon in D (Pachelbel), Prelude in C (Bach), Ballade pour Adeline which is a bit more difficult but also "easy" enough for a beginner or comptine d'un autre été (yann tiersen)... not sure if you like those pieces, but they are my "beginners-pieces" and I love playing them! =)

Re: Just got a keyboard! Songs?
I have a not so difficult version of canon in D where the left hand does the same thing throughout the whole piece. So if you have the left hand going, it really isnt that difficult. Unfortunately I have no idea where I got the sheetmusic from... Ill take a look around and see if I can find it again.

Re: Just got a keyboard! Songs?
Ok, got it...
http://www.free-scores.com/download-sheet-music.php?pdf=8112
Its the easy version of Canon in D, written in C major... which probably is quite stupid, since the song is called "in D" and one should probably play the piece in D as well,... but as I started playing the piece I didnt even know what the heck "in D" meant and once I found out I was so happy with my ability to play the piece at all that I thought oh well... who cares anyway... =)
(of course pachelbel might not have liked the idea of playing his D tune in C. Good hes not here to give me a hard time about it... =)
Anyway, its a nice tune, either in D or in C and I wouldnt even notice a difference.
Hope you enjoy!!!

Re: Just got a keyboard! Songs?
It's the thing that kinda stopped me from going for it, I guess.
Although I could just probably transpose it to D... hmm maybe one day...

Thanks, your so nice.
P.S. The person who gave me the keyboard said that you can't connect it to the computer, unfortunately.

not that much. The one I find hard is "Ballade pour Adeline" and "Prelude", I broke out in sweats when I read the scores. XD
Hm, these posts are very helpful! Please keep them coming

Re: Just got a keyboard! Songs?
Prelude isnt that difficult... its all about memorizing the notes and playing with a lot of feeling, thats all! But the tempo is always the same and its not like you have two different things to do with your hands. they play the same tune together (does that make sense... haha)
Im trying out Prelude in C moll now - also from Bach - and that is kinda like the one in C major but naturally with a whole different feeling to it.

Re: Just got a keyboard! Songs?
HI moon ...the pieces aendym posted are very gd for learning as they also have nice melody ...it may be hard to rank them as they may be simplified to accomodate new players ...my advice is pick a piece you think you can play and also like ...and go for it .......just keep plugging away at it and it will come eventually

Re: Just got a keyboard! Songs?
Prelude by J.S. Bach and Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven are pretty easy to learn. Requiem for a Dream by Clint Mansell is very beautiful too. Although it's not so easy.
I'm currently trying to learn Sonatina Op 49 No 2 by Beethoven, which isn't easy at all =/
