Re: do i need a new keyboard?
You should have at least a keyboard with 88 weighted keys. Otherwise you can't play everything (5 octaves aren't enough at all) and you won't learn the dynamics (you need weighted keys to get a more piano feel where you can express yourself with dynamics).

Re: do i need a new keyboard?
How many octaves you need depends on what songs you're playing, if you stick with pop songs 5 octaves is more than enough. But you say yourself that you keep running out of keys, so I guess you should go buy a 88 keys digital piano ^_^
