Speed!! How to practice?
How can we practice acusarity at higher speed?
Would: Flight Of the BumbleBee be a good song to use as practice. of course the grade on that song is high because of the speed, but I guess if one can manage to play that very rapidly after a couple of years, the speed and acusarity will automaticly be improved as well??!
Thoughts and suggestions?

Re: Speed!! How to practice?
Anything requiring "a couple of years" should be embraced with moderate enthusiasm imho

Re: Speed!! How to practice?
My suggestion for increaseing accuracy at high speed is...
You've got to practise SLOW...and take thought about what keys your hitting. Do this over and over at a slow speed, and don't try goign faster until you KNOW you'll be able to get it off clean.
Also another trick is to start your section at a slow speed with the metronome, then when you're able to play it at that speed, bump it up a notch or two...then play it again at the new speed, and if you can paly it perfectly twice in a row at the new speed bump it up again until you're at the desired speed
Also there's another trick called "slow/fast, fast/slow" This is when you take your notes and you hold the first now SLOW, then quickly pass the 2nd note and hold the 3rd note, creating sort of a dotted rhythmic sound. I think i covered this in one of my lessons, somewhere between lesson 24-28 i believe, but i can't exactly remember
anyway ^_^ i hope that info helps!

Re: Speed!! How to practice?
Okay. I have actally practiced that whay on a song im doing. Its called: King Hyrule farwell - Zeldasong. Started the metronome at 75, and in a week im no on 90. 1/16notes at 90 with 3 and 4 fingers in action with the right hand, and run with the left. But Then I am glad I practiced that the correct way, couse suddenly I could just do it
And I have seen that lesson you mentioned. I have been doing that on fur elise aswell, but didnt know it helped speed Cool
That info helps alot. I will be using the metronome more now. But Its still a bit tricky. Still it messes up more for me than I can feel it helps. But, practice as everything else
This is the reason I wondered:

It would be cool to play it. But Im not going to try right away. Since Im practicing to complete 100% on Fur Elise, Victors Piano Solo, Farwell King Hyrule and My Own Composition =) Created it this weekend, so I guess I will practice it and upload
But the exersize(Dont know how that word is written ) is noted
Re: Speed!! How to practice?
1 year ago I usually tried to play at full speed at once, but that's not doing any good,
better learn the piece slowly, and then increase with a metronome.
Have never tried the slow/fast, but it's prolly working since people use it.

Yea it works quite well, if you have a little patience and discipline you should be able to get it learned!

Re: Speed!! How to practice?
problem with flight of the bumblebee is that you wont practice long jump at high speeds, just chromaticness. so..

There are different versons, but I think its easy to learn, but harder to play at the correct tempo.
Hmm.. But I guess it also depends on how long tou have played of course and how tallented you are =)
So just start Is my recomandation, then you will find out how long time you use to get it right.
Im gonna learn it to, but dont know when..

Yup, Ill do it right away The hard verson is on a consertpianistlevel I think... At least it is rated 9/9 on difficulty on a sheetmusicsource I found... The easy one also look hard, so it probably is a great challange aswell. But hope you can do it

Re: Speed!! How to practice?
Well, I dont know what is best on that song. But I know what is best for the chromatic scale (c - c# - d -d# -e -f - f# g- g#- a-a# b-c)
Is 1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3 and the second (2) only when two white keys tuch. Like b/c.. But use the fastslow training and change (fast/slow) vs (slow/fast). It helped me alot AND fast on fur elise.
Andrew got lessons about both chromatic scale and fast/slow training if you want to look them up.
Its a bit hard, but you can study this vid and fuigure it out?!
You can se that she uses the 3,2 and 1 alot.

Re: Speed!! How to practice?
A lot of teachers I hear say that Hanon's 60 exercises are the absolute best for developing speed and strength.
