Just got a 15 gb Orchestra package Synthesizer
And it's freaking amazing I tell you! You cant tell it apart from a real orchestra!
If anyone is interested I can record some samples of it, depending on what instruments you want to hear, theres 18 violins, 12 violins, 8 double basses, anything you can think of. It sounds so real!

Re: Just got a 15 gb Orchestra package Synthesizer
Then you guys havent discovered Synthogy's Ivory, Ivory is the groundbreaking Grand Piano Virtual Instrument featuring 40 Gigabytes of stunning, new samples of Steinway D, Bosendorfer 290 and Yamaha C7 Grand Pianos.
40GB's are nothing when you have 4.5TB
For my orchestra I'm using Sibelius Sounds Essentials, covers most of what you will need, only 7000 nok.... Almost 1000usd... Most of these programs that allows you to get the pro experience to get better is usually not affordable, but with todays technology....
So no, it's not made for the mortal or poor ones, Ivory on the other hand costs 350usd + 50usd for a special usb key you need for their software, that's not bad.

Re: Just got a 15 gb Orchestra package Synthesizer
Nice, interesting, etc.
Here's something I noticed that is a little bit odd;
They always seem to show a laptop on the keyboard and the IMPLICATION is that the soft instrument sounds are generated BY the software IN the laptop and..... Well, then what ?
Doesn't that elaborate waveform need to "exit" via a sound card ?
Is it just the "phones" socket on the laptop - (to 100W amps and monitor speakers) ?
I find it hard to believe that the quality of a Steinway can be maintained through the phones socket of a laptop,.
Maybe I should say through the el cheapo internal audio amp of a typical laptop.
I have no problem with a desktop machine and a quality sound card if that is what it takes, a small tower would tuck under a keyboard stand quite easily.
I would just like them to stop posing laptops in the demos if that quality of sound can't be produced with them.
EDIT:
I guess I can retract most of my objection.
I have NOT kept up with hardware progress and trends.
My memory of PCMCIA, card bus, etc is a little vague and that has more or less passed.
I've just been reading up on USB external 192 KHz boxes and Yeah, they have come a long way since I was last into this stuff (Moore's Law).
