Circle of Fifths!!!
Hey all!!! I was thinking if anybody had problems understanding the circle of fifths.. Here's a site where it will show you the accidentals in each scale and making a circle of fifths! I used the lessons and did the quizzes and now I have a better understanding! And now I know the accidentals in each scale. So here's the site!! :
http://www.circle-of-fifths.net/
i hope this is helpful bye bye!

Hi,
Yes! it certainly is helpful! When I was younger I did not learn my scales this way - we had to memorize it! I came across the circle of fifths when I was re-reading basic theory information! It is quite interesting to see the relationships and they are quite mathematical! Music is afterall a language and all math!
Thanks! Bye!

Re: Circle of Fifths!!!
The way I learned the circle of 5ths may be wrong, but here is how I usually do it... starting with the key of C, no sharps, no flats...
C D E F G A B C
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 1
Re-order starting with the 5th...
G A B C D E F G
Now sharp the 7th after re-ordering...
G A B C D E F# G
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 1
Now you have the key of G... do it again... keep the #7th from the previous key and sharp the new 7th after re-ordering the notes again...
D E F# G A B C# D
Now you have the key of D...
A B C# D E F# G# A
The key of A...
E F# G# A B C# D# E
The key of E...
B C# D# E F# G# A# B
And the key of B...
This works, but it's probably not the best way. The circle of 4ths re-orders starting from the 4th and then flats the new 4th, such as...
C D E F G A B C
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 1
F G A B C D E F
Flat the 4th...
F G A Bb C D E F
And you have the key of F...

E F# G# A B C# D# E

B C# D# E F# G# A# B

Re: Circle of Fifths!!!
So i'm reading this book on Scribd.com about music theory, so far, good...
Then I got the explanation of CO5....
C Major scale's fifth is G,
G has 1 accidental ( black key ), and the fifth of G is D,
D has 2 accedentals, and the next "fifth" scale has 3 accidentals...
ETC......
Finally starting to understand it, was cryptic before
( Does it has something to do with i'm listening to the best recordeing of Bach ever? Hänssler's 172CD's collection ^_^ )
