Is it true that the harp is basically the piano strings inside a grand piano?

I'd love to say yes, but I'm actually not 100% about this as I know next to nothing about harp! If someone else knows for sure I'd be very interested to find out!
Re: Harp/Piano?
Yup! The strings of a harp are very similar to the strings inside of a grand piano, but a Harpsichord is the closest sounding to a harp. Sadly, I read that the harpsichord became less popular when the piano was invented It's a nice instrument though dude, it really brings you back in time when you hear or play it.

Re: Harp/Piano?
...except that in order to make sharps and flats on an harp (a concert harp, at least), you need to use the pedals, as the strings are tuned in the C major scale. There are 7 pedals, one for each note (C D E F G A B) and each one alters that note in every octave. When you put the pedal up, the note goes flat, and with the pedal down it goes sharp (in the middle it stays in tune)Pianokid220 wrote:and yes the
harp is basicaly a piano you pluck in a slight way ^_^
And yeah, it's quite difficult to play because of that.
