How do we help bring the light of the piano to the world.
I want to encourage a younger friend of mine to be more enthusiastic about playing, however when he start a new harder piece he quits. I try to express the joy of knowing such a great art and how wonderful it is to have such a uniqe gift or skill, whatever people call it now a days. Anyways I understand his frustration, despair and somewhat boredum , but do not know how to relieve or help. So if anyone has any great ideas about how to keep newbies like this uplifted, then please share it. I would very much appreciate it. Thank you..

try exposing him to your personal favorite classical songs. I found once I started enjoying classical music myself, and wanted to play this song or that song, it encouraged me to try harder.

I am talking about myself. I am not going to give up but every time I look at a piece that is somewhat out of my league I get a little intimidated.

Hehe... I could never have guessed that you talk about yourselfe But, hehe...
I dont got that same problem. I am oposite... If I feel that the piece is "to easy" I tend to give up..
That why Im aiming high now in the start.. But.. dont know. I try to variate the pieces and I allways got at least 3 pieces practivce and learn, then I dont get stuck driving the same lane over and over..

I usually learn an easy piece together with a hard one, so I can play
around with the easy, while I'm practicing the hard....

Im the oposite to that. I find it easyer to give up if the piece isnt hard enough..
