World Cup Empty World Cup

Post by ZoologyGirl Sat Jun 19, 2010 5:33 am

I notice there are people here from all around the globe, just wondering if anyone is following the World Cup?

I am not a mega sports fanatic really, but I do enjoy soccer (or football, if you will) and I really enjoy it when the World Cup rolls around. I am rooting for USA of course Very Happy We should have had that Slovenia match today! (err... yesterday, whatever time it is.). I'm still hoping we can make it to the knockout stage...just need to beat Algeria! I wish soccer was more popular over here.

It is too bad that Germany lost today.

The unfortunate thing about it being in South Africa is that the times that the matches are on is when I am at work, so I only get to see weekend matches. And even then some of the matches are too early for me to get up on a weekend! I enjoyed the US vs England game though.

I havent watched it much, because I'm not that into wasting my time on football right now, and I'm already short on time trying to watch the tv series Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis. That's 15 seasons of 20+ 40 minute episodes.

I hope Argentina, Brazil or England reaches high, too bad my own country isnt playing, but they havent been good since the 90's if i'm not wrong.

The vuvuzela's are kind of annoying, but they sure gives you a south african mood.
