I wouldn't advise anyone to Major in music UNLESS they're accomplished in the instrument of their performance... or they want to study music THEORY!
Having a music degree doesn't make you a better musician, and it narrows your future prospects.
You could take graded [piano] exams and even get a diploma -WHILE going to Uni and studying something else.
Just my .002 and I might be wrong.
