Small Hands =[ and Getting Nervous
Hello
It is so sad! I have very small hands! I can do octaves but barely.. I have to like touch the edges to play octaves, or even jumping when the piece is fast... My teacher gave me exercises to open the hands but they won't work .. sad.
Yeah and I have this problem of getting nervous when people are watching you. My hands get cold and sweaty and then I play like a robot . I think I'm not the only one with small hands and getting nervous...
It would be nice to get some tips

Re: Small Hands =[ and Getting Nervous
Your hands will grow, you're only 13, but I dont reach more than 1 octave + 1 key.
About the nervous thing, I can practice for myself while others are listening, but I mess really
up if people are like "Hey, play a song". But I dont have any tips about that..

Re: Small Hands =[ and Getting Nervous
Well, I cant give any tips.. But the nervousness will probably go away with experience infront of people. The more you know a thing also, makes you less nervous! As Andrew said once, think that you ar in a bubble, and in that bubble its oly you and the music
Small hans sucks!! I thought I had small hands, and I do, but I can reach one key above an octave. C-D And reach the edges on a C-E like you I guess on a normal octave!
EDIT. OOOoh, you are only 13 Then dont mind the handthing! It will probably grow alot the next few years

And there is no reason to get nervous: if you do error, people will respect that!

Re: Small Hands =[ and Getting Nervous
good luck with your playing Geny! Don't worry, you're only 13, and I'm sure those hands are going to grow over the years. For the mean time, just practice practice practice.

I can comfortly have an octave and a key, but I can ALMOST get to and E
Yea, The nervous thing will eventually go. I play quite often in the school hall on the grand piano. A few people walk through and some even watch me

Re: Small Hands =[ and Getting Nervous
Yea, Comptine d'Un Autre Été can be a bit akward.
There is an easier alternative for the bass line.
Insted of having it
E B G B
E---E
hopefully thats right, you could play
E B G B
----E
