How much Sleep do you get on average?
The subject says it all, but on the average night how much sleep do you get?
I need like at least 8 hours to function properly....
also i tend to get up around 10:30am and go to bed around 1:30am.
It's weird, I find when I have a really productive and busy day, I can't fall asleep so well...I find on the relaxing days i can just fall asleep, even if I've done nothing. I actually think that there's to much noise these days, too many big crowded cities, and we're all going crazy by having no personal space. lol How THAT for an off-music-related-topic

I also need at least 8-9 hours for me to function properly. Sometimes I push my limit and only get 6-7 hours of sleep which is not bad but it's definitely not enough sleep for me.

Re: How much Sleep do you get on average?
Verrrrry little... I generally have bad insomnia, so I can never fall asleep... and I tend to get into horrible sleeping patterns.. (staying up until 7am, sleeping until 2pm) but yeahhhhh I try to sleep and I just end up laying there forever... it sucks.

Re: How much Sleep do you get on average?
Meh. Welcome bad sleeping patterns...not. I actually didnt o got sleep the other day, only after 24h, so since friday to wed i only slept lik 2x 8ish...
Now, it's teh pain, got some classes @ 8am agian, so it's back to tryin to fix it (been not-trying for the past 3 yrs)
But ye, much thinking, much noise, much stress, bad habits, not good. I kind miss having a quiet life with free time, but also the mind expands to new consciousness like the ocean expands with each drop of water, so I can never go back...
8h now is necessary, too much damaged done. so anything gets faulty system. Btw, I'ma go hit the sac. L8rz.

Re: How much Sleep do you get on average?
I was on a Polyphasic sleep schedule for four days, by the end I couldn't handle it, a lot of my problems with the schedule came from being ill, I picked a bad time to start it.
If anyone wants to know more about Polyphasic sleep schedules, check out the wiki entry, it's a lot of fun to try if you have the time, it's better if you have a buddy to do it with.

Did you try polyphasic sleep just to experiment? or was there a specific purpose for it?

I did it because I have on average about three hours of free time every day, due to work. I wanted to have more time to draw and play piano, it just didn't work out, but I'll probably try it again some time.

I had a friend that went on a polyphasic sleep pattern and lasted a few weeks on it, but then he missed one sleep pattern and through the whole thing off
Re: How much Sleep do you get on average?
Sleep is for the weak!
..is what I used to say. XD During my freshman year in college, I was sleeping about 3-5 hours everyday. I was always so restless. But coffee became my best friend.
Then I couldn't take it anymore...now I try to sleep 6-8 hours everyday.

Re: How much Sleep do you get on average?
Ive check this Polyphasic sleep schedule out because I dont have too much of a pattern for my sleep...
It is quite an idea... only 30 min sleep at once... Maybe the scientist figured it is good for you...
I did have not regular but similar pattern and after few months I was kind of like a zombie...so I think it is an excellent idea if your aim is to kill your brain cells
I worked in 2 jobs for more than 2 years and I regularly got 4 hours sleep... nowadays I do a little better (approx 5 hours) although many times I surf on the net through the night.
I do better staying up till 6-7 in the morning so Im thinking I could be a great night nurse ( thats what I study now).
Weird but maybe the European time schedule still effects me.

Re: How much Sleep do you get on average?
I think personally sleep is extremely important to keep your body healthy, i think the first part of your sleep your body gets repaired, and the later hours of sleep repair your mind/brain, of course this is my own unproven opinion
Re: How much Sleep do you get on average?
I sleep for 4-7 hours, sometimes I sleep at night, sometimes at daytime, today I'm prolly gonna try gettin some sleep 3-4PM... it's 7AM,
and I havent slept, so my pattern is fucked up bigtime, it all happened in Desember last year, before that it was like 1-2AM to 8-9AM....
It's so hard gettin back to normal pattern....!
Sleep should be very good for the brain, I dont think scientist now what's really going on,
but it's working for sure, defragging like a computer, and storing files in archives...
Why did I dream about Andrew? Prolly because I watched some of his files, and the brain did something to what I've seen.
Sleep helps the healing prosess(?), as you dont move around much when you sleep. Playing the piano is almost like lifting weights,
but dont break down your muscles that much, the problem is that a muscle use 48 hours to rebuild itself,
so if you're playing too often and too hard ( wont hurt playing the piano everyday if you dont stress the muscles ),
your muscles will hurt, and after a while you'll prolly feel pain in your arms. 1-2 week of not using your hands will solve it,
because the muscle use about 1-2 week to get to the 100% "fit-for-fight", fully excessed.
If you get a bad inflammation that hurt so much that you barely can sleep, 6 weeks will do it,
if you dont use your arms ( ofcourse, you can open doors and do easy stuff like that ).
( my norwegian translation of body-muscle-healing at 7AM ^^ )
Play right, and you wont get inflammations.... I write to much

I dont' think you talk to much at ALL i very much enjoyed what you wrote, it was VERY informing! I've got REALLY bad inflamtion, sometimes i can't sleep because my arms throb so much....typing is what hurts them the most....but with everyone wanted to hear from me, and me needing to play piano, it's hard for me to justify taking the 6 weeks i need off to heal myself, maybe i should just fly to a tropical island and lay on the beach for 6 weeks
Re: How much Sleep do you get on average?
lol
im sure i read sumwhere that sleepin realli is good for u.. as long its not too much or too less.. there was actually an avg time which im not realli sure.. about 7/8-10 hrs im not realli sure.. and taking nap is also good. bcuz when u take naps.. it is "refreshing" ur brain so to say.
and also when u go to sleep.. besides repairing ur body and what not, ur brain is also sleeping.. and when u wake up , lets say from an alarm, u r pullin ur brain out of its sleeping state.. and thus u feel more tired..
well im not sure if thats accurate but i heard it from a friend who heard it from a teacher..
but cmon.. we're never too old for naps =]
for the most part i have different times that i sleep.. weekdays around 12-1am and weekends 3-4am. it kinda sux to wake up early in the morning sleeping around those time. especiialy during those cold weather days..

Aww thanks! You're right, I SHOULD take a break, but basically It'd be hard for me to pull myself away from all this. I guess I could post about a break, but then when i got back i'd STILL have to be super careful it doesn't come back, so that would mean alot less typing in general. ALSO I don't think i'm at the point where i can afford to take a vacation from everything but maybe i will soon in the future, hopefully next summer. (hoping) I'm pretty poor right now, i just bring in alittle bit more than my bills are, and extra money usually goes into new equipment to help pay for the site or recording stuff etc. So i'm just scraping by right now. But at least i'm liking my life!
Re: How much Sleep do you get on average?
you told us you are going on a trip soon so hopefully you can rest your hands there...
Everyone appreciates your hard work...
Ive heard about software which help people with difficulties. There is one for I think the vision impaired it reads the text loudly and you can dictate text and it writes it into the computer... maybe you should consider a solution like that... which doesnt require your hands... we definitely dont want to cause you problems.
