Hey Circle...
how long did it take you to get Bachs Menuett in Gmajor going smoothly? Been wondering if I should try it...
Really love that piece!

Hi!
I started the piece about 2 months before I recorded it. I would say that after 1 month I was comfortable with it. I had to "relearn" it a little before I recorded because I hadn't been playing it much and forgot a couple of spots.
It's a great song. You should try it out!

at least thats how it seems, since you keep posting and posting and posting new vids... I just dont know how you guys do it?
Where do you get the time for all that. Since my vacation has been over I havent gotten to anything longer than half an hour of daily practise!
And it seems some of you just suck all this stuff in over night!!! =)

Actually a lot of the progress is developed over the night When you sleep the mind works, it arranges everything you did that day, so the next day you will be a little bit more developed
So If you got 15 min before you sleep, you should try to do a little, but Perfect (as perfect you can do it) practice session. Then the mind will take this fresh info and work with it during the night. So when you wake up, it will be a little bit easier to do what you practiced
You shouldn't underestimate the in between practice development Its not just going on at night, but all day as well, but the greatest difference are noticed after a good nights sleep
Thats why 4x 20 min a day on the piano is better than 1x80min Just an ex

*blushes*
Well, I did have a little bit of a head start in regards to making the videos. I uploaded my first video a little over 2 months after I started learning piano. So I have a little bit of a backlog of pieces I know that I haven't made video of yet, but that backlog is rapidly decreasing.
And the other thing is that all of my piano time goes toward learning new pieces and practicing / polishing pieces that I know. None of my practice time at the moment is technical (no scales, no arpeggios, etc...). I guess I figure that the technical practice happens when I play the music I'm working on.
I don't know if it's the correct way to learn or not, but eventually I'm probably going to have to change that and focus on more technical practice. But at the moment, learning new stuff that's comfortably within my ability is the most fun and rewarding!
So, sometimes it does feel like I'm really sucking stuff up, but like last night, some nights I feel like I just suck. (i got a question for andrew, I think)

Thank you, You Tube, for letting me post this and finally be done with it! This is about as good as I can do with this piece. Good riddance! *shakes fist at Burgmuller*

Re: Circle's Performances
It's a little rough, but more than half of my piano-playing days have been spent on this and the other two movements. I'm glad to post it now (and the other 2 soon) and come back to it in a long while.
This is a terrific piece - I'm glad I learned it. Enjoy!

yes, mistake. mistakes. (more than one)
I had 6 versions recorded to chose from. They all had mistakes in some form, all in different places. This one was the last I recorded. I don't know if it was the best or not, but I was just ready to be done. A very frustrating experience.

Re: Circle's Performances
I hear you, sister!
You got me thinking now about making an outtakes video, of the really bad parts and me punching the keyboard or cursing at the camera. It would probably be pretty funny for you guys, but pretty embarrassing for me. On second thought, not such a good idea. Plus, I have my headphones on so there is no sound but the thunking of the keys and my cursing. Hmmm. Maybe someday!

Re: Circle's Performances
godelike was kind enough to point out I messed up the first trill. Gah! I had been playing all three wrong for the past 2 months, and thought I finally figured it out last weekend. All three are similar, and I thought it was weird that the first one was a little different. Turns out that they are all the same, I was just playing the first wrong!

Re: Circle's Performances
thanks!
"eiskaltes händchen" - ice cold hands... I like it! (I hope that's the right translation?)
In the US, the hand on the Addams Family was called "Thing".
Strangely enough, in the monkey version of the Addams Family, they changed his name to "Chimp Foot".
Check out that big thoe!
