Thomandy, I was just wondering... Do you search stuff about composing on the net and you use that knowledge when composing, or you use things that Andrew shows in his lessons?

Well, when I started composing, I had no clue. So my first comp is actually not even in a key
But, then before my second comp, I knew about keysignatures ect. That was also all I knew. But still, my
second comp that was a prelude in E minor is actually still one of my very favorite originals.
Prelude in Emin - Sorrow
Before my Rag, that also was my biggest Comp and still my hardest comp I did several hours of research online and read
and studied the genre and other rags ect. But I havnt used Andrews video really, Im not that good at listening to theory and learning it. Then I just forget it right away
So basically all my theory is gotten through online reading. So Andrews videos havnt helped me that much, Its his reviews that has helped me a lot
I just finished a Nocturne today, and before I started it I also read about Nocturnes, not that much really as I did before composing my Silver Bullet Rag.
Silver Bullet Rag
Also, I listen to a lot of music in the genre Im composing in, and finding their sheets and learning structure and analyzing them ect!! You can learn A LOT from analyzing sheets!!!!!!!!!

I never said that Andrews videos dont help
But for me, Im not that good at learning theory through lectures.
I need to read it!!! But, the lessons have helped A lot of people
I have also learned from them, especially on positioning me at the piano that I saw when I started to play.
And how to relax my mind
But the Reviews, especially his Fur Elise Review was essential to my development
Re: Thomas's Performances - NEW Liszt Moments Musicaux D.01 - Page 39
Haha I was joking... if there was no Andrew I would never learn how to play and right now I am roaming through this forum and trying to learn something about harmony and stuff... This place is very helpful

I was just wondering. What's the easiest Nocturne to play, like in grade or complexity? Cause I wanna learn one, but Chopin's nocturnes are way too hard for me right now.
P.S. Don't bother asking me what grade I'm in since I teach myself

Try mine hehe... I think this would be considered as a grade below Chopins Op9 No2(7/11)
So it would be a (6/11parhaps) Not really hard. But I wouldnt create Hardness Simply because of the hardness.
But yeah, Chopins Nocturne Op9 No2 is one of the easiest Chopin Nocturnes! Im not to knowledgeable about other Nocturnes though!

Finally a decadent Bach in store
I really enjoyed learning this, and im not done practicing it, cause I dont get it like this every time I try(1/30times) haha xD - So after some attempts I feel I nailed it Just the way I have practiced it and want it. Hope you enjoy one of Bachs best Inventions?! At least I feel its one of the best!
About the interpretation. I have talked to a Bach-analyst about how ect. The focus is therefor on the Second beat and not the first. And I really feel thats the best way of interpreting it. It gives it more life. And its a bigger challenge of course But, its great for extra work on accent-practice rather than just playing staccato all the way
Also, the speed should, according to the Bach-analyst, be between 55-57 sec. I use 57 from first til last note. Holding the last chord for 3sec(ish). So its all well thought trough, and hopefully you well feel its well executed as well
Yeah, I use a metronome in this performance, need a bit more practice to keep correct tempo and solid tempo without the metronome But, I got plenty of time to do that

Hey Thomas! First off very well done with the work on this piece. There's not much wrong with the piece at all, the rest of the weaknesses are going to be easily fixed by more practise.
The accents were well done, good job on accenting the 2nd beat for this piece. Your motor rhythm was pretty good although there were a few spots I felt it slightly sputtered for maybe half a second here and there, I'd say it's probably the spots with the thumb tucks from what I was observing. One thing I really think you nailed was the mood of the piece. it was really happy, cheerful, and playful, exactly how this piece should be played so congratz on that. You looked pretty relaxed, but then suddenly I got the feeling that the piece was hanging on the edge of a string sometimes. Bach is usually like that though, he's mind bendingly tough to play. One place I think you could improve slightly is the ending LH phrase around :47 near the end the LH is ending and I think it could've sung out a little more. I'm sure you probably wanted it to, but the piece is moving so quickly you might have missed it there? One thing for sure, the piece sounds well put together and well thought out. I bet with a week or 2 more of practise this thing would sound flawless.
For a mark I'd give you a great mark of 87.
If you have any questions let me know Great job! I hope to hear more bach from you
Re: Thomas's Performances - NEW Liszt Moments Musicaux D.01 - Page 39
Hi Andrew Yeah, its only small details, but nothing big
Im trying to hear for what you mean on :47 though.. I cant hear it.
Might be that your ear is a lot more trained to hear these things than my ear is?! But hopefully it was only this performance.
As I write, this is how I do it 1/30 times, so Im not done practicing it, especially for the sake of making it like this all the time.
I have spent 10 hours from start-this performance
And have talked to a youtuber/pianist/organist/Bach-Analyst about the interpretation, so thats why I did the 2beat thing, and that tempo My piano suggested a tempo that would be 7-10sec faster and only staccato
I did use a metronome though. Where did you feel the sputtering? So I can try to fix it
Yeah, Im planning some more Bach. Ill try a slower 3voiced Bach soon
Thanks for the reply, I promise I wont stop practicing this one yet

Awesome! yea, I'd love to see what you can do with this piece once it's a little more practised. The sputtering was so small that I'm having a hard time explaining where it is. Like at the opening at around 0:06 there's a few notes that sputter a little, another way to describe it would be, the notes are slightly slightly uneven probably due to awkward fingering. It's not that the tempo is bad, because you are quite steady, but some notes in between the beat are uneven or squished together. Does that make sense? I'm having a hard time explaining...
About the thing at 0:47 Listen to the LH figure, it's rising up and up towards the RH to meet it, and you're doing a great job of bringing it out, but as it meets the RH to the climax of the LH suddenly it dies out and you don't hear the end of the phrase. Maybe you can hear it now? It's just my personal opinion! I think you could really make that part sing out and be really expressive there.
Re: Thomas's Performances - NEW Liszt Moments Musicaux D.01 - Page 39
Yeah, I can hear the :06 thing
Understand what you mean! Ill work more on a slow paste with metronome to try to get it even smoother
And yeah, I think I can sense what you mean on :47
Its hard to hear though, so thumbs up for that
I can Feel what you mean, almost not hearing it. Ill try it at the piano,
and explore how to bring out the climax
I might do another video, but if Im doing one, I will try another interpretation, where the 8ts are all staccato but with accent on the 2nd beat instead of slur's
