How it all started....
It was raining one afternoon and I was playing Final Fantasy X. I had no interest in the piano then, but all that was changed with the opening credits. The music ( To Zanarkand ) just blew me away to a land of peace and harmony. The sound was just so relaxing it quickly stole my heart. After that I thought about my cousin's synth that was sitting for more than 10 years and before I knew it I was running toward my cousin's house and begging her to give it to me. Lucky me! turns out that she was planning to give it to someone else and that I was just a second early. At that time I knew nothing about how to play it. I was so disappointed that I couldn't play a single song.
I opened my laptop and kept on searching on Google. "How to play the piano" unfortunately I had to pay for the lessons. As I opened my youtube account I saw a tutorial how to play "To Zanarkand". It took me 1 whole day just to play 10 seconds of the whole song! then I got to a part where the notes were really high. I was so mad that it only had 49 keys that I started giving up. Then Andrew came along! I studied his videos and was so content by how he explains things. A light of hope smacked me in the face! I shouldn't have started to play hard songs without the basics. I studied and then started to learn easier songs. I found out about Brad's easy to play lessons and studied them. After a few months I got back to learning "To Zanarkand" and with experience combined different notes to produce a similar sound. It didn't have to be exact as long it was good enough for me then it was fine.
Well that's how it started. up until now I'm thankful to all my youtube friends and tutors ( Brad, Andrew, Thomas and gotitans999 ). I'm still having fun playing the piano( just wanted to let you know that ).

Re: How it all started....
wow, now that's a nice story! It's funny how some beautiful piano music can completely inspire someone to learn something they had no interest in. You were SO lucky to get that keyboard.
PS what did you think of my version of too zanarkand? My version is one that people either tend to love or hate. XD (it's ok, be honest )

Well I actually loved urs! Plus the way you played it was very good, the way you moved and played the song, was very expressively. A musical piece can be played in different variations and expressed very differently based on the thoughts of the pianist, but I absolutely loved ur interpretation.
Not the best, but its one of em. (at least in my opinion )
PS what do you think of my other performances? i updated my performance page . Pls take a look and its ok to be honest.
Correction: My synth was sitting for more than 20 years ROFL

I was majorly inspired by To Zanarkand too, among other classical pieces which started building up in my iPod.
Your version is almost perfect for me Andrew! Like 99% to my absolute taste! There is just one part in it where it went a little too fast and its at my favourite part! But you played the whole damn thing so expressively I was majorly impressed!

Re: How it all started....
Yes a few tempo changes made it a little awkward, but it was still a masterpiece.
