A College paper with me in it ^_^
My Philosophy of Service
My opinion on philosophy is the need and thirst to study a certain area in life whether it is based on educational facts or just life itself and your take on that area of study. As humans we are all attracted to certain areas whether it is the business, scientific, economical aspect of life. We are all hungry to know more life and to voice are opinion on life and all the wonders.
Philosophy of service is to learn more about all life has to offer and not just learn but give back what we know, through various forms such as voluntary work, aiding the sick and elderly, etc. It is our duty to give back and to share our knowledge, God didnt give the bible to Jesus to keep for himself but to spread the word around and help change mankind for the greater good. Sometimes we forget our purpose here and we get distracted but we will always get the reminder every now and then to remind us of our purpose and it is up to us to listen to those reminders or ignore then. By following those reminders along with the correct morals and values will determine what sort of person we will become. Those who ignore the calls will go astray. This is where service comes in to play. We must remember our purpose and fulfil them.
To perform a service is one in which we should do willingly and expect nothing in return. We should not do a service for fame or anything other reason but do it from the kindness of our heart. We do a service because there are people who need our help and due to whatever skills we may entail we should not be selfish and help only ourselves or help only to receive something in return, but to help because we want to. Just helping someone in need should bring us joy and with have the right philosophy in life will assist in ensuring we do our part the right way. However not everyone have the same philosophy in life, we all have our own perspectives in life which can lead us to arguing when our views differ, but we must remember to be open minded
and respect each others philosophical views. We also must keep in mind that our philosophy in which ever area should always have facts to ensure its authenticity.
I believe in the saying Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, Teach a man HOW to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. I heard this saying from a Canadian pianist Andrew Furmanczyk. That saying was his philosophy for teaching. I believe in this saying because we should not just share what we have with others but teach them how to apply that knowledge in a way where they can reproduce the little bit of knowledge we shared with them in a way that will benefit them later on. Which is what he used as a technique for teaching others to play the piano, not to copy what he is doing but to teach us how to play by ourselves but to develop our own style. A similar style is taught at universities. Students are taught not to regurgitate what they learn but to apply what they are taught to everyday life and do things in a creative way. This is the best way to do a service, to share with others what you know and how to use what they learn in a productive way. Andrew does not only go by this saying but also does his part. He was a gifted pianist from a very young age and used his talent to teach others from all over the world by giving free tutorials online for those who cannot afford them. They quality of his lessons are excellent and are very effective.
In conclusion, my philosophy of service is learning as much as I can and sharing it with others, not only those who are of a particular age, race or background but everyone I know so we can all know a little bit more and also to teach others to use what they are taught in their own personal way so they can benefit from it in a suitable way for themselves which will be of more effective for them. We are all placed here with a purpose. Not to sit and enjoy the ride but to learn from what life has to offer and to question it and voice our own opinion. Hence why we all have our own philosophical views.
