Higher pitch screaming...
So I've been in choir for years and have a wonderful melodic voice and everything but I'm a bass... and when I sing I can get up to a nice falloceto (Damn I just butchered that word...) but when I transfer my vocal energies into screaming I cannot for the life of me get up into a higher register. my growls sound wonderful but once I start hitting higher my voice pretty much falls apart... any screamers out there with some pointers?
Re: Higher pitch screaming...
The key to high pitch screams is to add an H before the word and then use alot of twang to keep your vocal cords connected! I'll post a demonstration tomorrow
note the H thing is only for REALLY high pitched screams, it helps you get into your head resonance,
for middle range screams your gonna have to apply a hold.
I'll demonstrate it all tomorrow, I have a really shitty mic though, so I hope you'll hear me anyways, hehe

okey here i show you..
It was pretty late when I did this so I didn't dare to go all out but I guarantee you I can go much higher and louder I know it sounds alittle wierd when I do it, because I don't use a proper vowel (I was just demonstrating the sound so it becomes more obvious)
I did a "hiiiiii", but if you do a EE instead it will sound better, keep in mind that you shouldnt let the vowel go to much toward EH as in Hey, but more an AE sound as in lamp, or twang.
So if you wanna screm "Yeah" you will have to modify it to "Hyaee"
Btw when I did this I felt absolutely no pain in the throat. If you do, you are doing it wrong. Remember to use your stomach, or should I say diaphragm

okey man i made a new one, here I cover both high pitch screams and medium range screams I think if you master this you are gonna find a whole new level of your voice.

I forgot to say something in the clip, the rule is generally that the higher pitch and volume you go, the more you need to open your mouth, and smile, like the joker in batman! i hope this will help
also, thats not my voice cracking, its the mic:P( I even moved 3 meters away from the mic when screaming) lol, thats how loud you get. you shouldn't be feeling any pain at all when doing this

try saying "kwaak" like a duck and hold the "aee" sound and overdo it as much as you can, when you overdo it enough you'll get a distortion on your voice play around alittle and you'll find growl

do have to say it or scream it out to get the growling effect?

well start with doing it, then overdo the effect as much as you can and act as if you're screaming without getting TOO loud. but overdoing the kwaak sound alone should get you into growl when you overdo it enough

hmmm i'll keep tryin it, i'm not sure if growling is going to work out for me though, i keep laughing, saying kwaak over and over feels a bit silly, my paretns are gonna start to think i'm going crazy but thanks though
