Debussy Arabesque no1
I was wondering, because of Andrew's performance and other one that I saw, if there were a right Tempo?
Andrew's:
Other:
The Tempo is, I think, 'Andantino con moto', which can also be confusing because this means the tempo is alternatively slower and faster then andante ^_^

Re: Debussy Arabesque no1
Some people say I'm a little fast (or a lot in some cases) But I love the tempo I picked. I know other pianists with Master's degree's and Ph.D's who marked the piece played at that tempo quite high. So i'd have to say I can't be completely wrong. I think you should play it how you feel it. that's how i feel the piece. Personally I think the song drags to much at a slower speed. It feels lighter and more fluid at a faster tempo. If you have poor technique that speed will sound choppy and horrible. You need to play from your shoulders to play this piece at the tempo I used.

I agree with you when I listen to them Andrew. The slow one Drags!!
Its frustrating! I think you got a good speed, I dont know the piece though, but it sure sounds good when you play it!

Andrew is probaly right after watching the slow one it is just draging along does not really flow Mesure to mesure
and also it seemed like he didn't know how to play becuse of the tempo

Hey, guys. ^^ Since I'm more and more often watching Andrew's videos, I thought this would maybe the right time to finally sign up over here.
I was the guy who thanked Andrew about the polyrythmn thing. ^^

Well, I wanted to say to this topic: the second version is cubus'. He of course has great skill at the piano but I'm thinking that hes just not as good as Andrew, for this would explain his low tempo here. The thing is, to let the first to bars of the piece sound good at a higher speed. I'm still working on that issue...
Yeah, and mainly for Andrews concern: 3-2 polyrhythms feels now natural to me. I don't even have to count anymore but beeing able to play a tripple part right from sheet. I started today with the rubato part. It kinda reminds me of Schumann with its crazy fingering, but it's easier than the beginning of the piece.
Does anyone has an idea how I could speed up the part right before the rubato part? Andrew is playing it in his version bloddy fast. Can't do it though =(
