I don't know what you mean by dark cloud but...
Final fantasy is a series of RPG games currently spanning 12 main games and some other ones as well. Most of them are considered very good (I can't say for sure though coase I only played X and XII. those were extremely good though )
The soundtracks from the games alone are worth a look imo being composed by one of the best composers still alive.

Re: what is Final Fantsy
It stands for role playing game.
in computer and console games the term is generaly used for games where you level up your characters and aquire new techniques to use along the way.
the pokemon and Zelda games are also examples of RPG's if that's clearer.
EDIT:
I'm not really good at explaining things, so maybe this will help more

Re: what is Final Fantsy
The soundtrack from FF1 to FF11 is very much worth a listening, and those soundtracks from the others are also worth listening. I love Uematsu's composing, it's top notch. You cant get anything better than that, sadly enough, he went to xbox360, and even tho i dont have it, I do have the soundtrack for Lost Odyssey, and Uematsu did it again.
The games are overall very good, but I doubt you'll find the first games very entertaining since you didnt grow up in a simple 2D world. FF7 is probably the most epic of them all, atleast what I think. Right now I'm practicing the main theme from FF7, a song I really wanna learn as Thomandy said, so I'm gonna complete this one.
