Re: Guitar Players !!
I think I can tune my guitar through Guitar Pro 5, and also Guitar Rig 3...
But I doubt I'll ever need to tune through a phone...
I'll stick with my electric tuner ^_^

Re: Guitar Players !!
Sure, there are tons of softwares for tuning the guitar, ranging from simple ones (they simply play the tone and you have to mimic that on the instrument) to more elaborated ones (they analyze the audio and tells you what note you played, and how far you are from the actual pitch of that note). And sure, with today's cellphones technologies, it's rather simple to create a Guitar Tuner for it.
Out of curiosity, You don't even need a software to tune your instrument from a Phone, you just take it off the hook, then you listen to the dialtone. There are two tones being heard, and the higher-pitched one (thus the easiest to hear) is a Concert Pitch A 440Hz (the A above middle C on the Piano), so from there you can tune the 5th string on a Guitar, which is an A one octave below (at 220Hz)
It's quite handy when there's no digital tuner available, I use the phone all the time
Note: That Phone thing works for the Americas, but not for Europe, as the dialtone there is at 425Hz. Not sure how is the rest of the world.

You sure seem to know a lot about sound.

Oh no, not a lot! (but someday I will)Admin Andrew wrote:You sure seem to know a lot about sound.
I just enjoy so much reading about all this stuff, audio technology, acoustics, everything... Someday I will have my own recording studio

Re: Guitar Players !!
If you can bring your guitar, you have room for a little tuner anyway,
you dont need a piano tuner like the one Andrew got.
Did I see an Ibanez in your "album", wamaral?

Re: Guitar Players !!
lol I wish I was a great Guitar Player, but at the moment I'm just a regular Guitar Player and a beginner Piano Player. Maybe one day I'll get thereAmro wrote:It seems that you are a Pro. Guitar Player
Not really, but it does look like one. That's a "Dolphin" guitar, made in 1989. Dolphin was a brand created by a Brazilian luthier, and he did made pretty good guitars before selling the brand to the Chinese, and now Dolphin is just a low-cost mass-production guitar. So, don't buy one unless it's made before 1990VictorCS wrote:Did I see an Ibanez in your "album", wamaral?
Mine is a GT120X, a superstrat model, like this one:
http://paginas.terra.com.br/arte/circusplace/dolphin_page/dolphin_pics/1989/89_1.htm
But with a few modifications , like changing from two single-coil plus one humbucker, to two humbuckers (one of them a DiMarzio Evolution, hopefully I'm changing the other one soon, loved the Evo!), and a new colour (I call that "almost-white")
That's a pretty decent guitar. Very heavy though - the body is Mahogany and the arm is Pau-marfim
But I may get an Ibanez one day, probably like this one:
You seem to know about guitars, VictorCS. You play too?
Re: Guitar Players !!
My brother has a cheap stratocaster copy, but it works for now, but i'm planning on buying a fender stratocaster next year,
right now I cant afford much more than I already have plans for, first is the digital piano, Roland RD-300GX, this month.
Then next month I'll be buying a new HD videocam. I was going to buy an ukulele,
but it seems that I'll wait till xmas, I'll prolly be busy with the digital piano anyway.
( i really want that John Petrucci, Music Man guitar... but it costs 2x Roland RD-300GX, i'm not rich ^_^ )

Ah, those damn expensive instruments! Why wasn't I born rich?VictorCS wrote:My brother has a cheap stratocaster copy, but it works for now, but i'm planning on buying a fender stratocaster next year,

A couple of weeks ago there was this large music exhibition here in Brazil, and I had the chance to play in that Roland you mentioned (and on a lot of others, for that matter - grand pianos included ), and it's a great instrument! Very clear and nice piano sound! (better than the cheap Yamaha that I own)
That would be a nice acquisition for you
Oh and the John Petrucci's Music Man is quite awesome too!
