Any viola players here??
I play the viola(and obviously piano) and was wondering if anyone else here played viola. If any violists are out there please respond and give your opinion on the viola. I personally love it and although the violin is nice I think the viola has a nicer sound. This is obviously up for debate so just give me your opinions.

Re: Any viola players here??
Haha. Believe me, you are not the only person who has thought that. The difference is in the size and sound. The violin is smaller(not too much) than the viola and has a higher pitched sound. The viola is obviously bigger and is tuned a perfect fifth lower than the violin. Because the viola is bigger it has richer more mellow sound that I personally prefer. It sounds more like a human voice than the high sound of the violin. Ha, sorry for the novel but that is what makes the two different. Thanks for the question though.

Yeah, the violin is the soprano member of the string family and the viola is the alto. The viola even uses its very own clef, the alto clef! And just so you know, soprano and alto are used in English.

Re: Any viola players here??
well, the cello would be the tenor member. there is no baritone member but obviously the bass member is the double bass. if you don't know about the cello and double bass i am always open for questions.

Re: Any viola players here??
I like the viola sound better too, not that i play it. But my little sister at 2 is supposed to play the violin very soon or i'll force her
Atleast she grows up with piano and guitar, something i didnt do, my parents wouldnt even buy me a piano when i was little, even tho i loved it. The only piano around was at my grandmas places. Some parents can be ignorant, they could've atleast sent me to a piano teacher if I loved it so much.
Cant change it now, maybe I wouldnt be into health and photography if they did get me a piano? I hate this butterfly effect, everything you do will affect how life goes on. And with this world wide web I affect people on the other side of the globe instantly

That is cool. I do have to agree with you on the butterfly effect. It is weird to think that one little thing different in your childhood could effect how you are now. Oh well, we just have to deal with those kinds of things.

I have thought of these things, too. It is of no use to have regrets, it really doesn't help if we wonder how things could have been.
Also, I think music is probably much more rewarding for the average people as a hobby rather than a profession. It's way too hard to be outstanding, I think. Very high expectations and such. But when you play for yourself, maybe few friends, family (maybe at some small local event, just as an amateur) I think it's easier to feel it rewarding. It's not something you _gotta_ do for a living, rather something you do because you enjoy it. No problem with that, IMO.
