Thats not a bad plan you should have a broad repertoire and you could play on weddings.
I have a friend whose summer is busy with weddings. ( Well he is also a jazz-pianist with many drills in his hand.)
So go for it
Re: Where Do YOU see yourself in 5 years?
In the next 5 years, I'm probably at the US getting my masters degree.
Hopefully I have a nice girlfriend at that time XD. And I really hope I become decent in playing the piano by then...

Uhmm....I think I see myself in 5 years as a businessman, pianist, song writer, a web blogger, computer specialist (programming, hardware repairs, in 3D animation), martial artist, and I will make it all happen. I'm starting now my plans to reach my success for my future. I also have other plans to help my countrymen but it depends on the situation. .......I know it looks hard....uhmm...

The big school compulsiry curriculum thingy. All the usual stuff. Im still only in my 1st year of Secondary School.
Oh, all the usual stuff would be: Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, Citizenship, ICT, Homoechnomics, Employability....and more.
I actually enjoy school alot more than I though I would!
My summer exams are coming up in about 2 weeks...ARRR! I really need to do some revision.
Once im in my second year, I start a bunch more things.
I learn French and German aswell. We have a really good Education system thing*. I got to choose 2 modern languages to do at the start of the year. But french....
I dont think that actually awnsers your question...but whatever.
Oh, I got to this big stoopidly strict Grammar School...tuck your dam shirt in kinda thing.
*I think

That makes sense, not being able to drive would kind of kill the interest wouldn't it. I loved playing games like Gran Turismo before i could drive

What about the big , and great and famous Need for Speed??
I started to play the first one... and from that time on it had tons of new versions... None of the other racers could beat it...
although I dont know Gran Turismo.
Re: Where Do YOU see yourself in 5 years?
Gran Turismo is a simulation based racing game with a real physics engine, a HUGE array of cars, driving school. It's less like a game and more like a training program, with game elements but it's very fun and teaches you alot unlike need for speed is a pure game that is quite unrealistic, although the newer versions are starting to become realistic, except it still isn't bang on, there are many errors with it, such as the fact that in ProStreet the 240SX can do 7 second runs on the drag strip...it's ridiculous
Re: Where Do YOU see yourself in 5 years?
NFS is more about the fun, while GT is a simulator like Flight Sim.
Back to topic, I dont remember what I wrote, but I've been thinking,
ofcourse, it's great to imagine where you are in 5 years.
But lets just face it, things can change pretty fast, 5 years ago I was a lazy boy, was caught up in computer games and was learning jiu-jitsu, and wanted to be a carpenter.
Now I lift weights, jog/bike, and play the keyboard and guitar seriously. And decided I wanna work with movies/music, that kinda stuff instead of building houses.
Ofcourse, if you made up your mind, and wanna travel to Egypt sometime in your future, you'll prolly do it. If you wanna get married, you do that to. There is alot of stuff you'll plan on doing and you will do them. But what if you turn left tomorrow instead of right in "that" street tomorrow? Then you will change what happens in your future.

Re: Where Do YOU see yourself in 5 years?
In five years, I see myself finishing a masters or bachelors in Computer Science; from there I'll either find a job or go back to school to get an education certificate (to teach ) I'll probably do some strange mixture of the two (all the while still doing small projects to keep myself afloat and continuing my education untill I get a doctorate).
and hopefully by that time I'll have been able to greatly increase my playing ability.

Re: Where Do YOU see yourself in 5 years?
Sorry, I've haven't been on the forum much cos of exams...
Hmmm haven't really thought about this.
In five yrs, I'll probably will have been finished with my second degree -either thinking of going for a third, or thinking of getting a job!
I DEFINITELY will have become a better musician, making music at levels that currently seem impossible to me.
I see myself in a SERIOUS relationship, and ultimately, a more mature person.

Well exactly that is what I like about it... and Andrew is right it is getting better and better by the new technology... and also it is getting bigger and bigger... soon you need 2 or more dvds to install it

Oh that kind of scarred me, for some reason I thought you will say if u turn left instead of right in the street something might hit you... it can be fatal too... I dont even know why I was thinking about that... I am optimistic
You are so right life is changing faster and a lot unexpected than you think... if someone would tell me 4 years ago I will live and learn in the USA I would just laugh on that... and surprise suprise soon it will be 2 years Im living here.
Re: Where Do YOU see yourself in 5 years?
I agree, you might think your life is going one way, but seriously things change every day. It's so hard to see where you'll end up. I remember 5 years ago I was playing a TON of piano (about 4-5 hours a day) and I was dreaming of becoming a concert pianist. I never thought in my wildest dreams, I'd get sick with something called paricarditous, dropping out of everything and becoming a piano teacher. I never thought I'd be on the internet like this. But you look at all that, and think about it, if that stuff hadn't happened to me, we wouldn't all be here on this forum talking and we might have never met! Isn't that interesting to think about?

Still I would actually trade it, if you could have avoyded getting sick! You are a type of person that deserves to reach you goals. But isnt there any posibillity you can get 100% again??? I dont know alot about thus paricarditus, only what I read in your Bio. Hm.. Sucks!!! But I guess you got to try and think positive, I guess there are alot of other great things in you life, and other goals to reach. *cough* - Children *cough* where is Angela?? hehe

It's interesting to think into the future hey?
Is that some kind of proposal , or am I missing something here... hehe!!
I've only just been able to go through everyone's replies; its interesting how we've got it all figured out.
Yeah, and about the GT vs NFS argument, I've always been a fan of both, but I'll have to hand it to GT5 Prologue! for outdoing NFS Prostreet.
Andrew, did you compose the piece playing on your homepage??

Re: Where Do YOU see yourself in 5 years?
*sigh* if I got a penny for everytime I've listened to the piece on your homepage, Andrew...
Btw, it doesn't indicate that it's stopped even though the actual piece has finished playing.
Yes, Fillius. I wish we'd all be able to comment on this thread then, and see how it turned out.
But one thing's for sure: we'd all be better pianists in 5yrs if we keep up with the level of dedication we currently have.
