oooo! I have to write 2 pieces of music !

Since, I moved up to Year 10. Which means that I can choose 4 of my lessons. You guessed it! I chose Music for one of my lessons!

So, I now have to write 2 compositions over 2 years

My first composition has to be finished in Year 10. So obviously the second composition will be made in Year 11.

Each composition will be studied from how it was made, and the music sheet to the performance by the person creating then the teacher will play it to compare. Pretty nerve wracking to perform in front of a examiner...

These two compositions will determine if I get the GCSE in music!

I have started on my first composition. It has no name yet. Maybe you could decide!

I have only written the first 6 measures, but here it is:

2 compostions in 2 years? Shouldn't be that hard.....

But I'll agree, some idea's doesn't come right away,
sometimes they just rush in...

The last 2 days I've been trying to add some measures on my last composition, and I've completed 5...
And the day I first started I wrote down like 20 mearsures.

Anyway, repetition is a nice way to make people remember the song, if you write a song, and no patterns repeat,
it's much harder to remember the song, but if some parts repeat your brain suck it in.
Thats why most radio hits are composed with repetition and ofcourse simple lyric ( something you dont have to worry about )...

Anyway, most artist use an AABA system or something like that, but it's different when you compose a piece,
especially if it's classical, and it depends on if it's a canon or not etc...
You can write a theme, and just change the keys and scales you play the theme in etc.

I agree that some ideas don't rush in and sometimes do. Which is a pain.

Our teacher was talking about the AABA system of structuring the piece. But that I think is mainly for pop songs or whatever.

Heres a little more detail of the tasks:

Year 10 :
Will be mainly listening to music, writing short pieces of music and talking about different kind of instruments and the origins of music, then at the last few months is the time of the composition and performance of that composition.

Year 11:
Composition Two! and more....
Will mainly be about performance, Solo, Duet and Group performances have to have a different piece of music. Being assessed on those compositions by a examiner and then, deciding if we passed or failed.

Good thing is, I get to go on music trips! YAY!

Gonna be a pretty hectic year though, but should be fun!
