Re: Genious "Quotes"!
Let me share some more quotes.
"The most necessary, most difficult and principal thing in music, that is time." - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
"It's not just what we have accomplished nor how it was accomplished, it's what we feel in our hearts that matters." - Aaron.

Thanks for the history lesson ( Good to know that they teach this in North America as well not only in Europe)
what I meant is a Catholic can be as bad as a Jewish... so can they count in the category?

Well lets say different Jews and Catholics are the same in politics and in money... but I guess that is just human nature.

Hehe... I dont think you can compare people couse of their religion. There are Jewish bastards, and there is Christen bastards aswell as Muslim bastards. Many Norwegian Muslims, That keep their religion but are against for ex the "Holy War" thing going on.
Historicly speeking, the Jews where so good in the financial life that the white, western men had to damper it. An earlyer antismeitissm was the roumer that the Jews poisened the drinkingwater, when people got sick...
Jews are great financepeople and historicly very good with money =)

I like your approach and you are right... I did not say every single of them are "different" I did not know you have a significant Muslim community in Norway.
Re: Genious "Quotes"!
Hehe.. But thats just it, EVERY singel one of the ARE different. Just as you and I, we are different. Cant call us the same just couse we both are from Europe you know.
Well, there are just as many polish workers in Norway as Muslims at the moment. They can work here for 2-3 month, and then support the family in Poland for the rest of the year =)

“If I decide to be an idiot, then I'll be an idiot on my own accord.” J.S. Bach
“My masters are strange folk with very little care for music in them.” J.S. Bach
The second quote makes me feel bad for Bach... Poor guy...

Re: Genious "Quotes"!
Brahms Rocks! Check out some of his quotes!
“Those who enjoy their own emotionally bad health and who habitually fill their own minds with the rank poisons of suspicion, jealousy and hatred, as a rule take umbrage at those who refuse to do likewise, and they find a perverted relief in trying to denigrate them.” Brahms
“If there is anyone here whom I have not insulted, I beg his pardon.” Brahms
“Composers in the old days used to keep strictly to the base of the theme, as their real subject. Beethoven varies the melody, harmony and rhythms so beautifully.” Brahms
“We cling nervously to the melody, but we don't handle it freely, we don't really make anything new out of it, we merely overload it.” Brahms
“Straight-away the ideas flow in upon me, directly from God, and not only do I see distinct themes in my mind's eye, but they are clothed in the right forms, harmonies, and orchestration.” - Brahms
I think Brahms was a pretty wise man ^_^ (at least from his quotes don't you guys think?)

Re: Genious "Quotes"!
Wow, Beethoven was incredible. Here's some of his quotes!
“Music should strike fire from the heart of man, and bring tears from the eyes of woman.”
“Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life.”
“I despise a world which does not feel that music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy”
“What you are, you are by accident of birth; what I am, I am by myself. There are and will be a thousand princes; there is only one Beethoven.”

“Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art.” Chopin

There is a story for this one...
"The
old castellan [of Gratz castle] was firmly convinced that Beethoven was
not quite right in his mind; he would often run, bareheaded, without a
hat, around in the great park of the castle hours on end, even if it
were raining with lightning and thunder. On other occasions, he would
sit for whole days shut up in his room without seeing anybody and not
speaking a word. But the most insane behaviour occurred when the French
occupied Gratz after the battle of Austerlitz (1806). The prince had aroused the hopes of the French general
of meeting the celebrated composer and to hear him play on the
piano-forte. To this end, a great musical soiree was arranged at the
castle and the composer was to play his latest compositions. Beethoven,
however, refused although the Prince repeatedly and earnestly requested
him to do so. Nevertheless, the Prince sill hoped to persuade the
obstinate musician, and invited the French general and other
distinguished guests. On the appointed evening Beethoven was nowhere to be seen. Finally
the news came that the artist had secretly left the castle and fled on
foot to the town of Gratz in the cold winter night - only a letter to
the Prince had been found in his room. In it he explained that he could
not play to enemies of his country and added 'Prince! What you are, you
are by circumstance and by birth. What I am, I am through myself. Of
Princes there have been and will be thousands. Of Beethovens there is
only one...'"

That's an awesome story It's funny, i've played piano almost my whole life, yet I did not learn very much music history...Only what I HAD to learn. Usually I'd learn it, and forget it right after.

I love these stories, that is probably stick with me better than just a saying... there are many stories about Beethoven and some other geniuses... people were always interested in their life...
It is either that you believe it happened like it... or count it as an urban legend
Re: Genious "Quotes"!
"Every composer knows the anguish and despair occasioned by forgetting ideas which one had no time to write down."
Hector Berlioz
A few pearls from Beethoven
"I have never thought of writing for reputation and honor. What I have in my heart must come out; that is the reason why I compose."
"Recommend to your children virtue; that alone can make them happy, not gold."
"I wish you music to help with the burdens of life ,and to help you release your happiness to others."
Mozart said these:
“When I am . . . traveling in a carriage, or walking after a good meal, or during the night when I cannot sleep; it is on such occasions that ideas flow best and most abundantly.”
“To talk well and eloquently is a very great art, but that an equally great one is to know the right moment to stop.”
“Neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius. Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius.”
“I pay no attention whatever to anybody's praise or blame. I simply follow my own feelings.”

Liszt:
'Art is Heaven on earth, to which one never appeals in vain when faced with the oppressions of this world.'
'I calmly persist in staying stubbornly in my corner, and just work at becoming more and more misunderstood.'
