The length of an accidental Empty The length of an accidental

Hi im a bit confused on the length of an accidentall. So do they go for one of the little segments or for the rest of the line on the page?

I think the little segments are bars and the whole line is a measure lol. But anyways I would like to know this cause im trying to finish off this sheet and i just hit a snag lol.

I know that if the accidentall is at the very beggining of the line/measure then its played untill the end of that line/measure but im not sure if a accidentals will make you play it untill the end of the line/measure or just up until that next little segment line thiggie/ bar line.

Please help me out here lol. Thanks for all replys.

Hi midori and welcome to forum:)
..a measure/bar is actually the space between the bar lines( as u called segments ):)so an accidental will only affect for tht measure ,unless cancelled by a natural.......measure/bar = space between barlines .
IF the accidental is right at beginning of staff then this will be key signature which then is to be played throughout unless key change or natural being used to cancel temporarily ..i hope this helps ..if not others will explain better than me ,so good luck Smile
