hello from germany:)
hi guys, my name is andi and i come from germany/bonn (beethoven was born here, i was visiting his house last week). ^^
dont worry about my bad english, i try to do my best!
i "play" piano since 1 week, so i am a really beginner, but with the help from andrew i can now read notes(slowly^^) and i am learning "fur elise" and "requiem for a dream".
i cant work since 1 month (motorcycle accident)so i have all the day time to learn, actually i learn 10-12 hours a day. no joke.
anyway... i am going to practice now, cu!

Re: hello from germany:)
yea i have to agree 10-12 hours per day is WAYY to much. If you still have time to kill and want to sink it into music, you could balance yourself out by learning music theory and taking a break for your hands every 15-20 minutes for maybe 10 minutes long. I'd practise at most 3 hours a day and slowly build it up to 4-5 hours a day tops.
You can still practise music without playing notes though.

Hehe Im 24, I think our maturity might get us easier on the way?! And that a 14year old would probably need a teacher right away to avoid lots of traps
Re: hello from germany:)
xD true^^ aber Schoffo du kannst noch was werden immerhin waren Beethoven und so auch ganz alt ^^
(but Schoffo u can still play [maybe a bit different] , because Beethoven was old too ^^)

Hehe?? Didnt Beethoven start when he was 6? I think his alcoholic father forced him to practice lots and lots of hours everyday!

Yeah.
from WIKI:
Beethoven's first music teacher was his father. A traditional belief concerning Johann is that he was a harsh instructor, and that the child Beethoven, "made to stand at the keyboard, was often in tears". Concerning this, the New Grove indicates that there is no solid documentation to support it, and asserts that "speculation and myth-making have both been productive."[2] Beethoven had other local teachers as well: the court organist van den Eeden, Tobias Friedrich Pfeiffer (a family friend, who taught Beethoven piano), and a relative, Franz Rovantini (violin and viola).[2] His musical talent manifested itself early—apparently he was advanced enough to perform at the age of nine, not seven as popularly believed.
