I have a piano teacher!
hey guess what? Oops, it's in the title ^^' . i'm so excited!
Well, yesterday I started taking lessons. I'm only starting with 30min/week. So I met my teacher, and this is how it happened:
We started by talking on what style I wanted to learn. I told him I wanted a classical formation. So he said ok, but what do you know about piano? I said I knew how to read sheets and every common symbols on them. He said OK, then play me something.
So I played Maple leaf rag Part A - B(never had time to finish it ) and some Debussy's Prelude.
He was like: Ok well you are not a beginner at all!
Then It started being weird. He instantly say: ok what piece you would like to learn?(never teached me anything before). I said I was thinking about Chopin waltz in C#minor. He said that is was fine. Practise your c#minor harmonic scale, and learn the first page of the piece(the easiest).Next week, we'll start the second part(harder). Then the lessons ended. (He wrote me what to do on for the week a sheet of paper).
Is that normal he went so directly to the point even before teaching me some stuff?

Re: I have a piano teacher!
NICE Congrats
Well, I dont know if thats common But each teacher probably got their own style, based on different pedagogic strategies So its probably a good thing. I think the thing you should think about now is the Chemistry How was the feel for him?? Did he seam fair, real, good, educated, human ect ect and most important maybe, do you feel confident he will take you where you want to go?
Cause Im almost pretty sure that the pedagogy approach is fair unless you got some real bad luck

Re: I have a piano teacher!
Well, he was pretty cool. I asked him to play me a little something to be sure he's good. And he was I said go for Chopin revolutionnary. he executed it nicely so for this part, no problem.
I don't know why but he looked a little bit nervous maybe he isn't doing this for long because he was around 20 years old. I felt like he was new to this . Maybe.
Anyway, I had fun and I think he can help me learning. So that's cool
