Not the Story of my life, just the piano part
Like most people here, I've always wanted to learn, but never had the opportunity due to circumstances beyond my control i.e. being a child and not in control of life's events! Anyways, in a moment of fate, I happened to hear a competition advertised on a radio station looking for 10 novice musicians to learn new instruments. On the very last day of the competition I wrote my essay. I won't give the details here, but I managed to convince the judges of my authenticity. So, one very exciting Friday I got my phonecall early in the morning. I was on the radio and I was being offered a piano and 10 weeks of lessons. I had a real "There is a God moment"....It was substantially cool..Anyway..I hadn't thought much about how I was going to fit a piano in my teeny weeny house..but there she is in my kitchen and I know it's wrong to love inaminate objects, but I really love her! I feel very guilty if I don't at least touch a few keys once a day...
One year on and I'm not doing lessons currently, but I've learned enough to allow me to mess about a bit..my only problem is extreme eagerness to learn loads. So I'm delving from one book to another..
Dia Dhuit is go n-eiri on bothar leat (Irish for howdye and good luck!)

welcome to the forum!!! We're glad to have you!
Yes, one of the killers of pianists is either under practise or OVER eagerness. The most balanced way to study is one of just taking things one step at a time with enjoyment of every experience. Love the piano and the learning curve just the same It'll be much more fun and you'll progress in what feels like less time!
hope that helps! be sure to ask questions and be vocal here on the forum

Your welcome. It's not that cold here in Georgia. I'm from Cuba by the way.
