Where you home schooled
Re: What? Homeschool
I always find it strange that people associate education with place or little pockets of time..The fact is we are all homeschooled to an extent..you don't stop learning when you move location..you learn organically from the day you are born..we are creatures of learning...and our experience of education has a lot to do with our personalities as well as with the experiences available to us..School is a very artificial environment, but it does provide good social contacts for people. However that doesn't suit everyone.. I was always very shy in school, but I found college much easier, as I was less confined and could choose friends from a wider range of people...I think its up to parents to understand their children and decide what learning environment suits them.

Beautifully said! I fully agree that learning takes place everywhere and we're all partly homeschooled. What is homework right?
Re: What? Homeschool
I think it's the other way around. Instead of the parents, it should be YOU. Your choice if you want to be homeschooled or go to public school. You should be the ones telling your parent that you want to be homeschooled because your shy or something. Well that's my opinion. And about the pope. I know he exists(obviously), but I don't beleive he's a prophet or anything of that.

There is to much I think this, and I think that in this discussion. Its getting a little unserious!!
There are studies ect and theory where there are pros and againsts...
And the Child should NOT be the one to decide!!!!!!!! Thats something I defenently stand for!
And to be honest I know quite a lot about children ect and these things. I got a Bachelor in Social Child Care! ... Thats not saying I know Everything there is to know!! Just to say that as well, but I know that this subject is HUGE.. There are so many things one have to take into consideration! And even though the Child should be able to say their opinion, this is Only a tiny fraction that has to be considered when the Parents decide if the child should be home schooled
I could have gone more in depth on this and why ect, but... Im not very interested to atm hehe
I just think up til now, its been a fair discussion, but its almost impossible to discuss it even further/in depth if the theoretical knowledge isnt generally there! Then it will be a joke of a discussion Or if you feel Im wrong please tell me

It's ok. It's your opinion. So I won't bother contradicting you. But I will let my kids decide on that matter. I'll give them a choice rather than jank it away all together and choose for them. As a matter of fact I'll pray to God so that he can give me the right path. I'll take away the video games, computer, tv ect(as punishment). but I'm not messing with free will....

To not give the kids That Choice is not based on My opinion! Its a WAY to huge task for a Kid to decide this. Its not a kids responsibility or job to take upon a such big task. Thats the parents Job to take these live-decisions! Its not My opinion, this is based on studies on how to raise a child, and how a parent should protect their kid. Giving the Kid this much Job and weight on themes shoulders is Bad Parenting!
Re: What? Homeschool
I really don't care about studies. I'll just pray to God about what I should do. But like I said they will be my kids.

Hm... You dont care what is best childcare? If God told you to hit your child, would you then do it?
Re: What? Homeschool
First of all if God is not going to tell me to hit my child for no reason(if my child lies or does something bad well no duh I'll hit him and punish him!). Second, you just contradicted yourself. If studies tell you to hit your child would you do it?

Okay, so you would have hit you child if he did something bad...
And NO I did not contradict myself! Studies shows and also ethical theory talks AGAINST hitting children!
So why would that be contradicting myself? I would NEVER hit my child!
Sorry, but this is a dead discussion to me now!
You are only 15, already talking about hitting your child as a good thing if he/she disobey you!
Hopefully you will grow up a lot more, and you probably will.. before you get a child!!

Well put!! ^_^
Re: What? Homeschool
Please don't judge my beleives just cuase I'm 15. Like I said I don't care about studies and blah. These are my convictions and I'm not going to tell you how to be a "good" parent. Like you said this topic is dead, but in NO way will you or any "how to take care of your child" book convince me of my personel matters and life. And don't get me wrong here, it's not like I would hit my child on the face with a belt >.>

Im not judging you at all. Its simply a discussion, and I get very frustrated to hear that studies in the field dosnt affect your view on the matter! And its not a "how to take care of your child". I have taken 7 exams through 3 years of studies and got good foundation for what Im saying. Im not just taking it out of thin air. I have participated in many discussions, and fine, you got your believes in god, and I dont think that is a Bad thing at all!! But to put aside facts presented by people, which in your believe is created by God - Why wont you then also believe in the facts and the research done over several decades? And that fact that you are 15 got a lot to say!!! You might feel mature ect, and you might be for your age also; But still you will have changed ALOT in the next 5 years!!
