Nowadays looks like most pianos are tuned in equal temperament. But I wonder if some pieces were supposed to be played in other temperaments. E.g. the Wikipedia article about musical temperament says, that the pythagorean tuning was used in the Medieval and Renaissance periods (5th–17th centuries). Unfortunately I can't setup the temperament for my e-piano. Do you think a piece would sound very different if played in other temperaments? Are there any examples for 20th century music, which sounds better in something different than equal temperament?
