Look, a NEW person!!
Hello everyone,
I'm Elisabeth and I'm pretty new around here... story of my life, recently I've kind of gotten used to being a new kid, so why not be a new kid on a forum as well?? Right now, I'm a freshman in my very first semester at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, I grew up in Southern Arizona so it has been a bit of a change. Okay, actually a massive pretty massive change. Edwardsville is in the metro area of Saint Louis, Missouri... it's literally right across the river so there are opportunaties over here that I probably wouldn't have gotten had I stayed in the place that I grew up in. It's just down the highway from Tombstone (like the Doc Holiday, "I'm your huckleberry" Tombstone.) and Bisbee, which is a semi-famous artist community I actually think it was one of Yahoo's top ten of the prettiest places to live. Feel free to look it up if you have the chance, I practically grew up at the community theatre there. As you might have been able to guess by my screen name (maybe not), I'm a theatre nerd, Broadway fangirl, and quite possibly the Playbill Store's best customer. I love CATS (Munkustrap included), Andrew Lloyd Webber, and oh my god, Nathan Lane. I can't tell you how much I love Nathan Lane!! But I guess, above all else, I love music. My family (half of which came from St. Louis, which is a bit of an explanation as to why I'm living here) are/were all in some form, musically inclined. My grandmother, who passed away when I was nine, was kind enough to bless me with her voice. At least that's what my family says, I think that I haven't quite lived up to her just yet. When she was my age, she sang opera on the radio in Saint Louis. My father plays guitar in his free time and he was the person that came with me to all of my community theatre... stuff. He's also the one who talked me into trying for a Master of Arts in music. Next month, I'm auditioning for a place in the music department at the university and if (and when *crosses fingers*) I get in, I can declare my major which will be music, voice performance or musical theatre. I can't tell you how much the videos that Andrew has put out has helped tune up (no pun intended) my understanding of music theory and piano.
Anyway, I'll leave it at this for now. If you have any questions please, please ask. I have one sample of my singing on my Youtube (my name over there is Munkuminx as well) and I hope to get more up as time progresses. I look forward to meeting some of you aspiring musicians/music lovers.
