The secret to remebering the ledger lines
I have trouble remembering the ledger lines because they go so high but I learned alot of them just be learning complicated music. As we know there is a difference between Memorizing the notes and being able to recognize them instantly. What I'm going to tell you will help you to recognize the note instead of counting up until you reach the note on the piano. It's much faster than that!!
Don't complain if you already know this, i'm just trying to help those that don't.
1st thing is that the notes basically repeat after reaching the end of the little rhyme. Well not exactly take a look below.
If you look at the top of the treble clef where E and F are you will notice that if you move down a note after finishing a rhyme, you will repeat the rhyme again except on a different section (as in lines or spaces.) So if you can remember that you should be able to idenfy the ledger line notes much faster.
E G B D F A C E F and e repeat. Take a look below:
Starting at G at the bottom of bass grand staff going up is G a B c D e F g A b C d E f G a B...
SO just remember F A C E Good Boy Deserves F A C E Good Boy Deserves F A C E ect...
This helped me learn them. but once you start to practice reading them you truly learn to instantly recognise them.

Re: The secret to remebering the ledger lines
Thanks YOU ..
The normal 5 lines are easy .. as you said sometimes I have to count to reach the wanted line ..
I can remeber them like that for the Treble Clef : "Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge Always C E"
Bass Clef : "F A C E - Good Boy Deserve Fudge Always"
and I go up/down for spaces

Re: The secret to remebering the ledger lines
I never managed to remember any lines like those you are saying, we had some in Norwegian. But for me that was actually harder than just using sheets, counting in the beginning, and now I know in one sec what the note are within 4-5octaves.
