Is this a tallent
Um, alot of times before I practice, I just mess around on my old upright piano, and I just press different keys with both hands and just kind of like, feel the music. Well just about everything I play sounds good. is this some kind of natural tallent?

Re: Is this a tallent
many ppl call this talent but everyone actually has this... you just have to be relaxed enough to find it i feel the same way about this now.
For a year ago i was so tense that i could not "make up" anything good while messing around, now that im relaxed i could basically mess aroudn ANY way that i want and still make it sound musical. You have to feel it;). good job on discovering it man!

Its a skill that you can be talented in, and its called improvisation.
If everything you play improvised sounds good, you ARE talented. (Or tonedeaf.:p)
Its like pianohama says. Everyone can do it. But if you are talented, or experienced in it, it will be alot better, and easier, and feel more natural.

Well I might really have some musical talent because I composed a really lame song on a tiny toy keyboard when I was 7 or 8.

I've started to mess around on my piano too, but scales are the essense that makes it possible for me. And I figured this, if I do play a spanish scale, and try to do some spanish style with the piano samples, it just doesnt sound as when I pick the nylon guitar sample.
Playing arabic scales with a piano sample is so much easier, but it seems that some styles just fit better on other instruments ( or sound samples ).
My biggest problem now is that I do it "great" when playin alberto or another easy pattern with my lefty, but it gets more messy when I do try to do different, might not be patterns, with my lefty. This is probably something I need to work on. If you ask someone to play something on only the white or black keys they usually end up playing something good, especially on the black keys, it seems the white are more difficult, might be that some are just a semi-tone apart. While the black has whole-tones so you can really mess it up with disharmony.
