Rank songs in order of difficulty.....
I am a beginner and there are a bunch of songs that I have always wanted to play. Some seem like they would be more difficult than others to approach first. Would anyone care to rank these in terms of difficulty?
Linus & Lucy
Memphis Stomp (the Firm)
Liz on top of the world (Pride & Prejudice)
The Heart Asks Pleasure First (The Piano)
Joy (George Winston)
Bach Invention Number 13

Re: Rank songs in order of difficulty.....
I've ever heard of them, except the Bach, but I dont know the difficulty. From experience I've seen that you can look on a sheet and think, that's easy or i'll never gonna make it. But it turms out to be the opposite.
I dont really know how they usually rank pieces, but I think they rank them by looking at speed ( bpm ), notes ( eightnotes/halfnotes/etc ), how many that are played at once and how far away they are from each other.
Would have been great to have a calculator where you could add this information and get the ranking.

Re: Rank songs in order of difficulty.....
If you got to youtube.com and type in the names of the songs, there are recordings of all of them. I would think that a song with a bunch of different length notes as well as something that varies a lot in rythm would be more difficult. For example, I would think that Memphis Stomp would be one of the harder ones, where "Liz on top of the world" might be a bit easier compared to the rest on the list......??

Re: Rank songs in order of difficulty.....
I can only tell you about my favorite song in the list: The Heart Asks Pleasure First (The Piano) ... that is a really hard one because of the speed and different positions on the piano. Im hoping to learn that in the future though

Yeah maggie....that is the song I would like most to learn. I too think it looks like one of the hardest songs on the list. Lots of time signature changes too.....
