Can you make a video about how to play Pursuit of Perfection?
Hi Andrew,
I'm a 33 years old guy from Hungary. Father of two boys (6 and 8 years old) In this february they have started to learn to play piano on a Keyboard and one month ago we bought an upright piano. It was a dream to me to play piano and now I have inspiration from my children
I have found you on Youtube and I have to say You are great. I learn a lot from your lessons and I really love to play Für Elise thanks for that tutorial! I know that you teach us how to fish but I really would love to learn "Pursuit of Perfection". If it is possible please help me to learn that.
Yours Sincerely
Attila

Re: Can you make a video about how to play Pursuit of Perfection?
I can tell you that Pursuit of Perfection is easier than it looks, ofcourse, you'll have to work on dynamics etc, but the piece itself is pretty repetive.
And it shouldn't be hard to learn to read a sheet, and ofcourse, when you've first learned it, you can play anything you want.
My opinion is that it's harder to play the piano than it is to learn to read a sheet. I usually dont read muic from sheet,
I read it from piano roll, but I dont have any problems with sheets, it's just the habbit.
When you first know how to fish, you can fish anything you want

Yup =) It took me 2 hours back last January to learn how to read sheets, and I was counting up and down a lot the first month from the different C's but suddenly I caught more and more keys and note-locations and now I can pinpoint easly within 4 octaves.. So use those few hours to learn sheets and learning songs will get sooo much easier after a while of getting it to stick in the backbones

Yes.... And most modern music programs today have this feature so you can watch it as piano roll instead of sheet.

Right :?
Nono, not reading form the roll itselfe

But its a program, it looks kind of like this or maybe exactly like this:
Im not sure if the pianorollprogram playes like this, but you can at least watch in this way - Vic is the expert on this!!

No no ..
The classical Piano roll works itself ..
Look at this :
The Vid. you have posted is made by a software called : Synthesia ...
It takes a MIDI file & convert it to a song as shown in the vid.
So I don't know what Victor Means ??!
That's Why I asked

Hehe, you missunderstand me! Cause its named the same(or almost same, im not sure). The prog I showed you look LIKE, I didnt say it was that prog, but they are VERY alike

Like Victor say: You can watch it LIKE a piano roll - Not that it IS a piano roll

But since you are familiar with, what you say is called Synthesia, then I can tell you that what Vic means is almost exactly like that prog, and that you look at it the same way!!!
Details on how and so Im not sure!!
Like Victor say: You can watch it LIKE a piano roll - Not that it IS a piano roll
Yup Yup ..
Sorry for Missunderstanding

Synthesia is a game actually & not a software ..
You have to connect your Keyboard to the computer & play through it ..
If you don't have a connector you can play with your comp. keyboard ..
But it's very hard of course ...
Plus, not all MIDI files are 1 Layer ..
So, it's Impossible to play a MIDI file with 7 layer for example (You need 7 hands then)
mmm .. Synthesia is a Boring game .. (after trial

About Music Masterworks Victor ..
I got it & tried it ..
Very Good ..
But they say that it converts .MIDI to .wav !!
Is that Possible ?!

Re: Can you make a video about how to play Pursuit of Perfection?
I dont have the latest version, so I dont know if it converts midi to wav, but it does atleast convert wav to midi, but it's an unnessecary feature since it works badly...
Winamp have a feature where you can convert midi to wav tho... Not that I understand why you would want that...
Sometimes midifiles are splitt into several layers, even if they are meant to be together as one, but Music Masterworks can merge layers perfect...

Re: Can you make a video about how to play Pursuit of Perfection?
.midi is a type of file that registers "tones" in a pattern. Look at the picture of those piano rolls. A midi file kinda looks like that, think of tones as an alphabet and a song like a text.
Therefore it is possible to easily convert midi to wav. But it is nearly impossible to convert a wav or mp3 to midi, even if it was possible it would probably sound blurry and sh*tty.
Hope this helps.

Re: Can you make a video about how to play Pursuit of Perfection?
if it's not a monophonic(?) wav file, like an instrument that play with one note at the time, wav to midi is useless.
But then again, Melodyne is a program used by pro's, and works like this wav to midi,
but specialized in making a voice out of tune sounding in tune, but you can do single note music too.
The latest addition to Melodyne, direct note access will be able to separate(?) chords, but still only promised to work ok with single instruments,
but most songs are a bunch of recordings, merged together, so while in studio, you can fix the guitar if it's out of tune, and then mix the song.
Merging layers in Music Masterwork:
Copy second layer, past it in first layer ( paste as "mix" ), then it'll get merged into the first layer. In some cases it can be useful.
