Woo hoo I hit the jackpot!!
Well, the piano jackpot....kind of anyway. When my brother bought his house it had an upright piano in it, which he lent to my other brother who sold it with his house!!...anyway my first brother said I could have the piano stool that was left.
I went and picked it up today and it is one of those ones that has a lid on it so you can keep your music inside, anyway it was full of old music books, all sorts of tunes and stuff from as far back as the 50's.
When I get better at playing I will try them all out....hundreds of songs! but the most interesting thing was there were these pages pulled out from a womans magazine, and it was of famous singers of the time like bing crosby, and each one talked about their favorite song, and on the back it had the sheet music!!
I thought this was so interesting, I guess back then lots of people played piano so they put music in the magazines along with the sewing and nitting patterns. It's quite hard to imagine now I guess in the age of the internet, ipod, & tv people entertaining themselves and their family by playing the piano, I guess it would have been great motivation to learn to play well !!.
Anyway just thought I would share my discovery
