The > Sign- what is it?
The less than sign (<) is above the notes on the treble scale and because my music book is a beginners grade 1, it says next to it bring out left hand, but this doenst make any sense because i am already playing with my left hand!
Its probably something really simple- but you get these questins with newbies i suppose because i can barely read music at all!
Anyways thanks for any response i get!

Hi!
It says that you should bring out the left hand hey??
Well, that means that you should play the lefthand a bit louder, make it stand out more!

Nah, then its not above the note like he described. And to gradually get louder or softer you cant use it on only one note. The sign you are talking about is longer and dont only stand above one note. Its usually belove several notes!!!
Re: The > Sign- what is it?
Its an accentuated note or chord, you have to play it louder than you normally you would play it...pretty simple
Also in the pathetique sonata you must crescendo in one note but thats completely off topic (yeah too much Barenboim masterclasses)
