Re: Is this Wrong?? :S
Haha. My pinky does the exact same thing. I'm trying to train it not to though. XD
Re: Is this Wrong?? :S
I dont think it is something wrong, i think its just an accostumed position of the pinky that can be fixed

Well... Why do you think it should be fixed if it isnt wrong??
But you might be right that it isnt a big deal, but it looks funny hehe
Re: Is this Wrong?? :S
Well what i ment is, that are some habits that can be changed or not (depends if you want or not) but it doesnt mean they are wrong, I just cant come up with a good example but im not very knowleadge in Piano techs so i dont know if it can be a con to your piano playingThomandy wrote:Fryderyk wrote:I dont think it is something wrong, i think its just an accostumed position of the pinky that can be fixed

Yeah, I understand And you are right!!
If he only can do that then its something he GOT to fix Cause then he got to move his hand to use his pinkie, and thats bad for development hehe, hope its just a technique he used in this piece

But, I'd like to know how do I fix it?
Do strickt scales!! That helps your fingerindependence! And hannonex that is good for strenghtening the pinkie.
Look up Andrews youtubelesson on hanon. He got one there that is great to use as a pinkiestrenghtener.
The more independent the pinkie is the easyer it is for you to use it alone without moving the whole hand to tuch the keys with it

Thanks! I think I'll start working on that now.

Re: Is this Wrong?? :S

Re: Is this Wrong?? :S
the floating pinky is just lack of finger control ^_^ basically the brain is sending a message to keep that finger tense because the other fingers are playing, at a higher level you'll be able to relax anything that isn't playing so that it feels almost "dead" ^_^ Still was nice playing ^_^ I've never heard that song before! if you have the floating pinky, don't worry! It's common

Its from Zelda Twilight Princess to Wii
Re: Is this Wrong?? :S
That's the most akward this I've seen, it even beats my little movment I do myself...
When I tap ( push/hit the string ) with my left ringfinger, my pinky does the exact same movement...
What's weirder is that it's only when I try to hit the fatest string on the guitar, else,
my piano fingers move pretty well, I think it's because I'm thinking very much of what movement will make less movement...
As we all know, movement is bad, if you wanna look like a pro, you'll have to play like a pro, without movement.

Re: Is this Wrong?? :S
That's pretty bizarre... haven't seen that before. Some people have different ways of playing, but it's actually natural for him to do that. The 5th finger is naturally weak and over a period of time it should strengthen up. Hanon exercises are great for the 4th and 5th fingers.
