hello from ky usa.
hi. my name is justin, i'm 16 years old and just started to learn to play piano/keyboard. i love music, and understood a good portion of the theory from my humanities classes in school. i was disappaointed that i couldn't play an instrument, because i felt there was alot to gain by learning. what frustrates me even further is that i started so late. i am however, an extremely quick learner, so i figured it's never too late.
my friends started learning guitar, drums etc. the idea of learning these instruments is still cool to me, but i wanted to be different. i noticed that alot of rock bands lacked a keyboard player these days, and thought that a shame. after listening to some bands that did include a keyboardist, i noticed that even simple chords seemed to add alot to the music.
i made up my mind, and told my parents i wanted to learn. they were all for the idea, and agreed to help me pay for a keyboard. i used some money i had saved up to buy a yamaha p-85, a type of keyboard with hammer weighted, pressure sensitive keys, and a pedal, to simulate the feel and dynamics of a piano.
i've been watching andrew's videos on youtube for about a month or two now, and he's quite simply a fantastic teacher. how somebody in their early twenties could teach me so much through only videos is beyond me. not to mention, it is very nice to offer such lessons for free.

Re: hello from ky usa.
Trust me, even if you start at 16 years, you will be able to learn what you want to learn....
Lex Luthor said; "It's never to late to learn a new skill".
It's basically how much you like it, and how much time you spend that makes the outcome.
And if you started earlier it isnt sure you would've have playd today.
Welcome to Andrew's forum, where we teach you how to fish.

Well it is known for us and looking at this extra short form is amusing for me... but it might not be obvious for others... takes some time now to read the whole forum
