Wow....that's a tough one cause I'd have to think back....
....thinking.....
thinking.....
still thinking.....
One time I was teaching a young girl around like 8 years old. I had just finished writing down what she had to do for the piece she just played for me. As I looked back at her, then she looked up at me and asked. "Do you like cabbage? " I looked at her puzzled and was like. "Where did THAT come from?" She just said that she had it for dinner last night and didn't like it, and wanted to know what i thought about it.
Also another time a different student she was like a 6 year old girl, she was acting up on me, and she pretended to go to sleep, so she was leaning up against the piano. like she's all tired and zonked out. Then I just shake my head and look down and finish writing her homework up. Then 5 seconds later, I look up and I knew her next song was titled "Are you sleeping" So I just looked up at her and i was like *clears throat* "Are you sleeping?" then she looks over at me and leans up and then i point at the book without saying anything, and as she reads the title she BURSTS out laughing, and laughing, and laughing, and.....laughing. She wouldn't stop actually, 10 minutes later she was STILL laughing and i couldn't get her to stop, so i told her that i just wouldn't be able to make any more jokes around her because she couldn't stop herself from laughing! Next thing i know she's covering her mouth with both hands trying to hold in the laughing!!! By this point i'm cracking up as well, but I want to get on with the lesson! So i tell her to start playing her piece, but when she lets go of her mouth she starts laughing again....So, I told her I'd have to call her mother in if she couldn't play the song. So quickly she smartened up and played her song but still was holding back laughing.....
That (unnamed) girl is such a monkey, but she's young and I've got a sense of humor! So I found it quite amusing...my lessons with her always end up being interesting....in the last lesson she snuck into my studio and hid the cheque for the month under my chair!
Re: Funniest thing a student asked you?
LOL she hid the cheque? She sounds like a funny child but sorta troublesome.
Reason I asked was because last time my professor was telling us about the funny things her private students ask/tell her. Like her teaching about notes to her beginning child student and pointing to a quarter note and asking, "If this is a quarter note, what's this?" (Pointing to an eighth note) and then the child saying, "What a dime note?" And how the kids get a kick out "third" finger when she asks for them to show it.
