This is a list of All major scales, and their relative minor scales, PLUS the accidental they have in them.

The order of sharps can be remembered by memorizing this sentence. Father Charles Goes Down And Ends Battle.
Now, say the same sentence backwards to get your order of flats. Battle Ends And Down Goes Charles Father.

Haha. Well, I haven't been playing very long, and even in the short amount of time that I have been playing I've spent most of the time just learning songs I like and whatnot. Kind of embarrassing, but I'm just now trying to get serious about learning scales and chords and all the rest of the "basic" stuff and building on from there.

I'll give it a try.
Each letter reffers to a scale in the given note. Exterior letters reffer major scales, interior one's their relative minor scale, obtained 3 semi-tones down the piano's chromatic scale from the given note.
Letters are a fifth apart (in the piano's chromatic scale, hence called circle of fifths). The Outter sheet notation indicates sharped notes (you play not the note, but the next semi-tone up), for the scales from middle to right, and flatned notes (you play not the note, but the previous semi-tone down), from middle to left, for each scale.

Scales are made with the following intervals:
Major: 2x whole-tone, semi-tone, 3x whole-tone, semi-tone
minor: whole-tone, semi-tone, 3x whole-tone, semi-tone, whole-tone, semi-tone.

So the whole thing is like a map telling you which keys get sharped or flated in a given scale, in opposition to being normally played like in C major scale.

That's all I recall for now, hope that helped. Anyone feel free to add more or correct any wrongs.

I know it is basicly the same stuff... I would really love to get a clock like that... it would help me tons to learn this circle thing.

hey, at minor scales isn't : 1 tone, 1 semitone, 2 tones, 1 semitone and than 2 tones? a minor doesn't have black notes.

It is true that the "A natural minor" doesnt have black notes but dont forget that B to C is only a semitone just like E to F. Even though they are white keys they are still only semitones. So a whole tone from B is C sharp and whole tone from E is F sharp.
It is little tricky I know.

One of Andrew's last videos (#25 #26 maybe?) mentions there are some variations of a given scale, that has to do with harmony and melody. I think that's just the tip of the iceberg though.

The A Natural minor scale does not have black notes, but harmonic and melodic minor may have sharps and flats, depending on the scale. However, A melodic minor has F sharp and A flat on it's 6th and 7th.

Well, ok I really had correcting people, and you're right in alot of ways, A minor melodic scale does have those two notes raised. What you need to remember is in a melodic scale it's 6th and 7th get RASIED on the way up and LOWERED on the way down, so you would have to say F# and G# on the way up and F natural and G natural on the way down. When you said A flat that would be lowering the note fromt he tonic. I know it sounds like a really stupid difference but it you said it went from F# to A flat and then to A natural that would be very bad on a test! even though you're playing the exact same notes on the keyboard. Anyway no worries! I hope that cleared some things up!

I actually like scales now that I have been interduced propperly to the construction. Instead of buying a scalebook(wich I cant find anywhere) I decided to use the formulas given to me trough Andrews Youtubelessons, and construct my own little scalebook. I guess that is also a great whay of learning them, finding them instead of just seeing and memoraising.

I am almost finished with all your lessons on youtube Andy ;p
But will soon repet the differences to the minor melodic and harmonic, and go on to the really hard* circle of fifth...
I have seen the video, and read about it.. But the thingi doenst really stick. But I guess it wont be any problem with a little work on it

of smart stuff on it ( besides the scales) This is mostly for
reading, stretching the brain

fun sites which actually shows scales and chords on a virtual piano

The next site is even better

and scales but you can actually listen to them

If you need some help with fingering

get the fingering of all the scales with left and right hand too.
