How Do You...
... Make yourself practice? What do you tell yourself to get motivated, what do you do?
And how do you find the time? Do you practice more on the weekends?

Motivation is to get this damn Nocturne learned! I dunno, I just picture myself in the future, having at least over an hours worth of music under my repituar (how the heck do you spell it)

Well, if you aim high there is probably harder to motivate you trogh songs. I talked to this user on youtube.
Her boy learned chopins nocturne 9, 2 in 10-20 hours with 1.5 hour teacher on it and played it Awsome!
If you use so little time on pieces then it isnt hard to keep the motivation
Re: How Do You...
Ugh if anything that demotivates me! I can't stand watching those 8 year old "prodigies" on youtube playing Chopin, its scary T_T.
But the time it takes to learn a piece, I believe, shouldn't be measured, as some everyone learns at a different pace.
Been playing that Nocturne for one week straight now, about 1.5-2 hours a day on just that piece and I have the first two pages nailed pretty good, 4th page is a little tricky but I'll get it. I don't get the fuss about Chopin though, Debussy is much harder to learn in my opinion because his pieces are more "free-spirited". Being able to play Claire De Lune took me about 1 whole month, and I can play all the notes now but don't have the speed or consistency yet.

It is spelled as 'repertoire'. If that's what you were talking about.

Good work I think its very easy to memorise notes, but as Andrew told me once, that is only 20% of the work. =)
I uses 1.5 hours on Chopins Prelude in E minor. And another 1.5 to refresh and conect left and right hand. But noc 9, 2 when I tryed that I used 2 hours just on the 4 first bars... That was a bit long I think! I dont know! =)

Re: How Do You...
Cool... Personally, I get motivated whenever I hear a really pretty song that I want to learn.
But sometimes it's hard. I'm not going to lie, sometimes I don't feel like it.

Nope thats true! But I guess thats nothing wrong with that Dont play when you dont want to! Personally I think that will kill your music in the long run!
Re: How Do You...
This was motivating.... I havent really had time the last 2-3 days, so havent played much, but anyway....
I started memorizing this song, and tempo was still slow, but today,
days since I last practised it with pretty slow speed, I played it in the tempo it should be played in without any problems....
