Hello everyone!
Hi there,
My name is Chris, and im 14 years old.
I've been playing piano for just nearly 2 months now. So far so good, I hope to learn alot more from this site and the videos realated!
At the moment I know the keys and what notes they represent (bit dodgy on the black keys), I cant read music while playing but I "translate" it, so most of my music sheets have letters all over them.
And the only song I can play, as in, the only FULL song I can play is Mad World by Gary Jules.
I use a Yamaha NP-30 Digital Piano, shame it has only 76 keys. It's weighted and has touch sensitivity.
Thank you for reading

Shame on us, never seen anyone else on the forum get disrespected
You know, sudden development, it's like protein folding...
You never know when it doesnt fold correctly.
A topic can turn in the wrong direction, or the right

Well i'm glad you didn't take offense to that! Normally i wouldn't mind, but if someone is trying to introduce themselves and then people post in his introduction and ignore him, i'd feel kind of alienated!
anyway, welcome again! ^_^

Yeah, a little randomness helps our creativity. And creativity is acourding to sosiology and studyes thought of as a main reason we people can experience that Life has meaning!! Piano Is GREAT for the creativity, aswell as googlepictures and girls
And I dont feel we ignored him, and its good to see that he didnt either. The google- thing was an addon, to the welcome

Welcome Chris,
Good that you found us.
Reading music while playing it requires a lot of practice and takes some time to learn it.
I know it is easier first to have cheets on the sheet but the best would be to learn the notes without those letters carved on the sheet music. I always thought it cant hurt to do that... but actually most teacher hate that... they want even the very beginner player to get used to reading the note itself and not looking up or down...
There is a topic "Learning tools for beginners - the notes, chords and eartraining" where you can find games and other tools to help your sightreading.
One of them called the Note Attack, that helps a lot in memorizing the notes.
Dont worry the number of song you can play is not important... playing them well is more important I think.
Good luck on your piano career

Good job. Try NoteAttack too that is faster and if you got those right as much as the notecard you should not have any problems reading the sheet while playing
Re: Hello everyone!
Hello belated welcome I'm also new here and I wish you enjoy playing piano. I'm 15 and wish you could be my friend.
