Which lessons should I use? (OLD or NEW or BOTH?)
So I saw there's a playlist of OLD lessons and of NEW lessons. Since I'm pretty sure both say they start at extreme beginner, I really don't know what to use. Should I just use the new or should I just go with the old or should I watch ALL the videos or what? I'm just beginning and feeling a bit overwhelmed!
I know I posted under questions for Andrew but I'd appreciate help from anyone (although a reply from Andrew would be awesome ).

Not Andrew, but I can tell you new! There better quality, he would have been able to pick up on mistakes that he made the first time around and correct them. So new Defo new

I'd kinda like the opinion of a couple others, too, but I definitely value your reply, especially since you're ADVANCED (wish I could say that, haha).
Oh and anyone know what Guru points are? Ug, I hate feeling so stupid!

Re: Which lessons should I use? (OLD or NEW or BOTH?)
Go with the new ones! Then if you get finished following them, you could run through the old ones. Some of the lessons in the old series is unique and not remade. Like the "lessons" on the Piano, how its built, hammers function etc with a tuner!
Guru points are a sign of importance at the forum, based on "votes" or rates from other users on previous feedback and help given by the person!
So if someone got 10points, have has gotten +s(1point) on several comments made or a Thanks(3points) from on a topic! He can also get -s and this will then deduct 1 point!

OK. That makes sense (I think). Thanks. If anybody else has an opinion I'd love to hear it...
And it'd still be great to hear from Andrew but...
EDIT: Darn. My big text and my small text didn't work.
EDIT: Sorry I didn't thank you too Thormandy. I meant to but I've just learned that you can only thank one person per topic.

Haha. But actually you're right. I really should practice. I just gotta figure out where to put my computer (it's a laptop). But I think I have an idea...

Oh. So that means I could post 20 new things and advance even if I hadn't learned a thing!
Re: Which lessons should I use? (OLD or NEW or BOTH?)
I did not know there were new versions, I think I've been looking at the old ones. Or maybe I've been looking at the new ones without knowing there were old ones. I'm off to investigate this!
Edit: I am indeed watching the new ones...just didn't know they were new ones. Great thread though, I didn't know there was a first version.

Re: Which lessons should I use? (OLD or NEW or BOTH?)
I didn't know what Thomandy explained about the Guru points. I always thought they meant the more points the user has the better pianist he or she is.
But if a particular user gets many points for being able to help people out, he or she is most likley good at the piano, since this forum is about piano playing. Unless that particular person has a lot of head knowledge but less experience (just kidding.)
I would also like to point out that you can get an overview of what each and every lessons covers, on howtoplaypiano.ca. I think that same overview is somewhere on this forum as well.

You can enable it permanent for all new postings at Profile, Preferences and then selecting Yes for "Always attach my signature" and Save, or you can enable it on a per-posting basis, if you check the "Attach signature (signatures can be changed in profile)" point in options below a new posting.
