You can put google ads on your site. By this way, it is easier tl find in google ( i think)

Re: What are the BOTS doing here?

Re: What are the BOTS doing here?
The Google bot is here for advertisements on Google. When it's activated our website shows up on google so people can view it and register. It helps us get more traffic, even guests will show up from time to time and might sign up on the forum.
Here's an example:

Here's an example:
Well thats not much advertisement if you actually type in howtoplaypiano.ca directly into the search
If you say piano and on the side frame Andrew's page would show up that is more like an advertisement
Re: What are the BOTS doing here?
Lol, actually yeah you're right. But it's actually meant to be here so that the website shows on Google.com.
Re: What are the BOTS doing here?
I've always been under the influence that when you saw a "bot" such as google or yahoo in the "who's online" of a forum that the "bot" was actually the search engines "web crawler" indexing posts as site content. (subsequentially making the sites search ranking higher and more developed)

That makes a lot of sense actually! woot! let's hope the forum gets ranked higher so it gets more popular
Re: What are the BOTS doing here?
Yeah, it's a fairly good way to do things; PHPBB makes the forum very easy to crawl the downfall of that is all of the spam that you may get in a period of time from actual bots.
/* The site and forum would probably be a bit better on the SEO if they were hosted on the same domain, although for the time being its really great just something you may want to consider in the future */

I tried to get it hosted on my own domain, but it was such a headache, i was on the phone with my hosting company and they couldn't help me, I also was on the phone with my domain name company and they kept point fingers at eachother saying that it was the other one who could do it.
I evenually gave up...trust me I would've LOVED to have the same domain...but it didn't work

I'm not sure exactly what the problem is. But every thing's set up now, and it's working, so I don't think i'm going to mess with it!
Re: What are the BOTS doing here?
I agree, don't mess with a good thing.
